Funny, even some of the typical naysayers in the comments section seem to be resigned that this is happening and being a tad bit more logical about the process. Still with the negative spin. So the world isn't completely off axis.
I'm very encouraged that the duct tape has found it's way down to Vegas and onto George's lips and onto the core of the team from the city. It sounds like they have been negotiating all the fine points without leaking it to the media.

I just don't know how you can have a bottom line that says it will provide 8 billion over the life of the building and argue that it's bad.

You're assuming that they are arguing this because they oppose an arena. They just oppose anything, regardless of what it is. They don't want Sacramento to grow. They want to live in a small city and instead of moving to a quieter place that is more their pace, they will do everything in their power to stop anything from developing in this city. So, hearing that anything will bring more money or more people to the area just makes them angrier.

I hate to break it to them, but Sacramento hasn't been a small city for a very long time (acting like a small town doesn't make you one). That being said, downtown Sac is littered with bums and a lot of weird people that don't inspire those who have money to go down there. Bringing in more businesses brings in more money, which in turn will help to clean up the whole area. This makes it a much nicer place for everyone, including those who don't want things to change.

Davis might be good for them? Who knows.. Seems they want the amenities of a larger town but want to keep a small town feeling going. Well it's not going to happen, and the bee posters are idiots for thinking it will.

I'm sure they are negotiating with the Maloofs. The Maloofs turned over all their documents and fianncials and it had to be easier to negotiate, since the city saw what they were willing to do in Anaheim.
Not only that, but as it usually does happen with government deals, negotiaions are private. The plan is presneted when you actully have the deal figured out and can debate it based on real information and not supposition, innuendo, wrong assumptions and misinformation. Gee, that sounds logical. Then it's voted up or down. If down, then maybe it gets tweaked and comes back again. However, I think they are serious about presenting a plan to the council, that they have every reason to believe is likely to be approved.
Every time you counter the naysayers arguments, they just think up another reason for something to not happen. It will never end. CAVE people. Citizens Against Virtually Everything (Unless it helps them directly of course.)
So I will mark September 13th and be sure to make it to that City Council meeting. Gotta show support!
