Are the Kings entering a rebuild phase?

Will The Kings actually commit to a rebuild for once?

I think you could add Monk, DDR, LaVine, Russ (if you found a way to make the money work) to pretty much any contender bench and it would.make it better. Just got to flip them across the league
The problem is which contenders have that much dead money to send out for any of those guys. I think Schroder might be the most valuable of the bunch. 2 years under 15 million, and then a 3rd year at 4.5 million guaranteed. He is a top tier proven backup lead guard. Could easily find 5 good teams who could use the player + scrape together that much salary.

Gets really hard when you start talking DeRozan, nearly impossible with Lavine.

As well as Detroit is playing, they don't really have a starting point guard. Shroder seemed to fit pretty well with them last season

DDR for Kuminga seems inevitable

Trading Keegan for AD is definitely a bad idea.

Trading Keegan? Absolutely should be considered. He isn’t ever going to be *that* guy.
AD is going back to the Lakers for Hacimuara and other filler like Vincent so the NBA can create some buzz once the shine of the new season wears off and help out LeRoid for like the 15th time in his career.

Games 1-8: 3-5, average margin -3.5 points (best: +5 worst: -13)
Games 9-16: 0-8, average margin -23.4 points (best: -13 worst: -41)

There has been a *very obvious* step change in our performance starting in game 9. The probability that our scores would get randomly distributed like that is about 1 in 10000 (yes I did the monte carlo) so it's not random. Something happened, and everything went in the tank. What that was, I have no idea, but it would seem that the team has given up, and it happened sometime between 11/5 and 11/7.

Whatever is happening with DeMar and the Kings currently being 3-13 are both unrelated.
Other than DeMar breaking the Kings. I was onboard with it but holy hell. I can't be sold that Domas is the problem as long as this guy is around.

I pretty much said right before the season that if the team didn't get off to a good start, the vets would quit early in the season and we're seeing it now. I guess I just didn't think they would collectively be as bad as they are and give up as hard as they have.

People are going to believe whatever they want though.

Always said most fans don't have the stomach for it which is why even though I hated the Fox trade I found it a worthwhile experiment to see if we could retool before giving up completely since Spurs pretty clearly were not interested in working with us on sending us anything remotely valuable. Pretty clear which way we have to go now.

Don't know if I believe Vivek will wait 5 years unless we've clearly turned the corner in 3. But I'm looking forward to seeing what we have after the trade deadline as a gauge of what is to come.

Vivek is always a good boy in year one.

Then he's going to get antsy, force us into a short sighted trade for a gimpy Zion or AD, fire Perry, make Bobby Jackson HC without a proper multi candidate process, hire a new GM and once again be "hands off".
I know it is against the grain but I honestly think Vivek mostly listens to his basketball people and the problem is most of them he's selected have been lousy to mediocre, but mostly lousy.

He's not gonna do it. Probably thinking to himself, will I still be alive by then

Well, I can't argue that Vlade was some kind of basketball genius that was unfairly ignored by Vivek, well played. ;)

But there have been undeniable patterns in this franchise's flailing over the last decade and a half that happen again and again no matter who is in the GM chair.

Honestly I think it's a lot of column A and a lot of column B. We get lousy to mediocre basketball minds in here, Vivek realizes they don't know what they're doing but doesn't realize he's in the same boat and he gets to meddlin'.
