Are the Kings better now, with these last two trades, then they were last year?

thats what I chose too, but they are improved defensively with the pick ups of Wells, Hart, and Cisco.

I voted, but really, I think we should wait till beginning of November when the season starts. We will know then.
that would be a vote of "not sure" wouldn't it.:)

Better since the end of the season, yes. Better than we were before last seasons trade deadline, NO!

I put yes, but will agree that we are in desperate need of big bodies. So far plans A (solidify the SG spot), and B (backup for Bibby) are done, now on to plan C (getting bigger).

I think plan C should've been plan A right?... J/K... Lol... Anyways, I voted yes... We are better, but there's still lots to improve on... If petrie can make us contenders out of the team that ended last year and the team that starts the season, then he should be given an award.

No, we're not.
Lost:
Ostertag
Jackson
Mobley

Gained:
Wells
Hart
Garcia

Possibly leaving:
Evans
Songaila

Wells should have a slight advantage over Mobley, but Jackson is undeniably better than Hart. Ostertag and Garcia play different positions so it's hard to compare, but Tag seemed to be dedicated for next season and you can only give so much credit for drafting one guy. That leaves us at less good than last year. Add in that Evans is most likely gone and we are worse. But we do have some flexibility (SOME) and if we add a better starting PF/C we will be substantially improved, and that would take away the reservations I'm feeling about this offseason. My vote was PF/C

No, I think that there just isn't all that much quality right now on the FA when it comes to big men. SAR, Swift, and Walker were just about the pick of the litter.

Walker is still around. He would fit really well into our system, so that could be a way to go. Plus we still have the mid-level, reasonable trade bait, etc.

Things are looking good so far. Heck, were even bringing in some players that aren't too shabby on D.

we might get better defensively, but offensively if they can blend in with the core as were the former players.

Yeah, but its still was and still should be the highest priority on our offseason agenda.

Did I not get the memo about the Kings system changing into jacking up nonsense threes?

I agree with the Wells over Mobley, but the Jackson part I am against. Hart will play a full season, Jackson hasn't been able to in a while. Advantage Hart.

I don't think this team as it is right now is as good as the team was before any moves were made last year, I mean they were a .650 team with a very smoothly running halfcourt offense 103 ppg, 26 assists but there is still a lot of time left before the start of next season and we are making strides. Geoff has to do what he said he was going to do when he traded Webb and move some of those "flexible" contracts for a big. He sure is shoring up the holes though, great move today. If he can get a good big we could be almost as good I think. Wells has to keep it together and buy into the offense too.

I thought the Kings played about as well as they could with what they had. Seattle was on fire, Allen proved he was better than anyone on our team and the Sonics went on to give the Spurs a tough series. Doubt we'd do any better by simply adding Bonzi.

Then again, we don't have an 05-06 team yet. This ain't it. It's perverse how many times I'm checking this site and others for breaking news. It's gonna happen, though. We will be better than next year.

Going into the offseason alone was a improvement on the basis that our team will mesh and get to know each other better, as well as the new guys learning everything there is to know about the King's team and the system, and adding these pieces has overall made us a better team... we still have work to do finding a PF/C..

hehe...why dont we save this thread until TDOS is over, at least? petrie has said he wants this team to improve defensively, and the maloofs have made it clear that they want to bring in guys who play a little D, as well. that said, our front line is still very lacking, defensively, not to mention the inflated contracts of guys like thomas and williamson. so, i expect GP will attempt to deal one or both of those contracts for a bigger, more defensive presence inside. i expect the MLE, or at least part of it, will go to re-signing songaila. the rest of it i think could be used to fill any minor hole(s) in the roster. the size is gonna come thru tade, however. we're just not gonna find the quality big man we want thru free agency, with only the MLE to offer. we could get another big lane clogging lunk like ostertag, but we already determined that that kind of player doesnt fit real well in the system. petrie still has time to make this team look better--MUCH better, in fact--than it did last season. "right now" makes little difference, because we only have 9 players under contract. depth doesnt count for everything, but it certainly counts for something, and a 9-man roster isnt gonna cut it. ;)

I am on board with you also, Yoda. That means, I couldn't vote for any of the choices listed.

I voted for not sure. Bonzi and Hart are ?'s. Bjax has been injured basically the last 2 years, Tag never played. So I have no idea.

Look at our record against playoff teams last year before the trade deadline. It was a scary sight, I mean we got stomped by the "contending" teams. Something had to be done.

No, got stomped by A contending team -- the Spurs. As I recall one of the big disappointments heading into that stretch were a series of last second blown calls costing us games against the Suns and Mavs.
