anybody listen to 1140 right now?

Bill Walton is always hillarious but can be serious too - like here at the end talking about Coach Wooden. I like how he said this is a new exciting beginning for him in Sac after his Bruins era, Portland era and finally Boston era.

Yeah any time Bill starts tallking about Coach Wooden he gets very serious it seems even though their relationship was pretty jovial as well as deep. Just met him at that Kings draft party yesterday- he was awesome.

Walton was fantastic. Brilliant.

What he said about what they should do with Cousins was perfection:

1) Show him all the negative articles about his character and his laziness.
This is what they think? What are you going to do about it?

2) Take him to a children's hospital (underlying message: you are so freaking lucky; you could have been one of them instead of an incredibly gifted athlete. Don't blow it)

3) Show him film of the Kings in the heyday with Weber, Vlade, Bibby, Christie and Peja. Show the fans going beserk during the glory days. Message: This is what it could be like if you can bring this team back. You could own this town.

In other words: Cousins, you are soo lucky to be genitically gifted. You have gone to a team with the best fans in the NBA, with a great coach, a great GM. Everything is there for you. Now it's just up to you to play to your potential and not waste it.

Bill Walton would be the best possible coach for Cousins because he doesn't just know about basketball, he knows about life, and he was taught by the best there ever was in John Wooden.

I've always liked Walton and it's cool he's with us. Happy he has been able to get better from all that pain. I have bad back pain and can't imagine how he felt.

Very cool pics btw!

Favorite Bill Walton comments:

Regarding Larry Johnson's play for the Knicks: "What a pathetic play from a pathetic human being."

"The offensive presence of Greg Ostertag is quite overwhelming sometimes!"

"Amare Stoudamire! Winner of the genetic lottery!"

Walton: That's not a foul
Snapper Jones: Looked like one to me Bill, and the ref too.
Walton: Come on, that was no foul! It may be a violation of all the basic rules of human decency, but its not a foul.

On Shawn Bradley: "Shawn Bradley, you're 7 foot 6. SUCCESS IS A CHOICE!"

and my personal favorite....

"I wanna see Ben Wallace come out of the locker room in war paint!"

Ditto!:) I've always liked Bill, even when he just liked to hear the sound of his own voice a little to much back in the mid-90's/Jordan's hay days.:D Bill's definitely a great guy, has a big heart.

I live with chronic pain as well and yeah it's no picnic. He did look a little fragile I have to admit- that is not seen in the pics. I can upload some video today sometime. He was moving a little gingerly but having a real good time. :)

Loved these! I also remember:
'You can't control Matt Fish, you can only hope to contain him!':D

Yep. I live with chronic pain (not as bad as Walton's I'm sure). I can definitely appreciate his comment when he says he was "on the Bridge" with "nothing to live for". I'm glad the docs patched him up. His unvarnished opinions on the Kings and NBA basketball should be very entertaining, and informative.
