Anaheim OKs more events, allowing for NBA team

The City Council on Tuesday continued to pave the way for an NBA team to move to the Honda Center, approving a plan that allows for up to 60 more events at the arena each year.

The Anaheim council unanimously approved an environmental-impact report that would allow the Honda Center to hold 222 events per year, up from the current 162.

I get the feeling that Anaheim is still planning for Kings to come and that the Maloofs/Samueli are doing some behind the scenes dealing.

Me too. Good luck with that is all I have to say. Ultimately, the NBA decides where their franchises go, not any petulant owner. You can't just decide to move your team wherever you want. The NBA has to want you there. NOBODY at the NBA wants 3 teams in SoCal. It ain't happenin. Only thing is last year we didn't have a way to stop them due to arena issue. That issue has effectively been solved on city's end... and also we have potential team buyer. Without those forces in place the Maloofs are no way shape how taking the Kings to Anaheim.

In some sick way... this may be a way for them to "save face"... by being forced to sell. Although I can't imagine a worse way to handle it for them.

Boggles my mind that they think they appear anywhere near credible when they start throwing out their statements. What do they think they are going to accomplish??!??!

Think about this. This is not the City's deal to take or leave for the Maloofs. This deal was negotiated by the NBA itself. Of course they have no intention of turning their back on something they represented. They got back stabbed by George with this too.

LOL so much for that statement by George of "the last time we talked to another city like Anaheim was over 3 months ago, and we're committed to Sac" or whatever. They've most likely been talking to Anaheim the whole time. This is ridiculous
