An aspiring Bird Man:

That is a nice article. I'm impressed that he's already started a charitable foundation. Sounds like a solid, good-character person. :)

Everytime I saw Aminu play this season, he easily outplayed his teammate and Lawal who is projected much higher.

A nice big man off the bench type of player. I like him 2nd round.

When aminu was in high school my basketball team was in a tournament with his team and we had a good chance to see him play. He has only shown just a little bit of his game at the college level in my opinion. His potential is great and IMO i see him more as a 3 (SF) he is very versitile but he does need to get his shot down. I'd take him begining of 2nd or mayb even late first round.

Yeah, I brought him up about a month ago. I think he's more athletic than Lawal, and Lawal is pretty athletic. He's a bit of a project, but we've got nothing better to do.

It's actually not out of the realm of possibility--that's probably his upside. I do like Aminu, but I don't think we should be overly aggressive to trying to attain his services--we have young bigs in JT and Hawes already, and he's not quite a 31st pick, and it's not quite worth it to score another draft pick in the 40s just to see what he's about.

Like Andersen, Aminu's a low possession player who can't do much with the ball in his hands, and he doesn't get to the stripe as much as you'd like from an athlete of his caliber. But what he does well can easily translate to the NBA--he's a pretty good (but not excellent, and not at Chris Andersen levels) rebounder, a surprisingly prominent stealer and excellent shotblocker, although he has to gets into foul trouble quite a bit. So he's athletic and his athletic markers are nice particularly on the defensive end of the court, and sometimes that's all that's necessary to be a valuable roleplaying big man in thsi league. But it can go either way of course--a lot depends on his work ethic and the team that he goes to, and whether that team truly values his skills and gives him playing time accordingly. I'd say Chris Andersen is the upside, and the current version of Solomon Jones is the downside.

I would think it all depends on what we do with our first two picks. If we don't go big with either of them, then Aminu wouldn't be that bad a choice. As I said, he's a bit of a project, but I think he could turn into at the very least a good defensive player that rebounds. It might take him a few years. It took Ben Wallace a few years to find his way. Aminu has good hands, but not a very good handle. And your right, the one stat that leaps out is his getting into foul trouble, which limited his minutes on the floor.

I would like to add that I don't think Georgia Tech is very well coached. They had a ton of talent on that team and really underachieved. They were my dark horse at the beginning of the year. I knew that they had a lot of youth on the team, but I thought by the time they got to the tourny they would be playing well. They wern't...
