Amico: Rudy Gay pushing for trade before thursdays deadline per basketballinsider

If true, I say move him.

If Rudy wants to stay and is committed to moving forward with Boogie and Rondo then you try to build with that.

If not, you move him, put shooters on the wings (Casspi is a much better fit at SF for Karl's offense) around Rondo, WCS and Cousins.

Gay for Ryan Anderson could be revisited and he'd make a nice rotation with Boogie and Willie.

Get a three way deal to send out Marco and get back Kevin Martin.

If Ben really wants out then you move he and Butler for a backup SG/SF, ideally a high level defender.

Wasn't he the one that signed a long deal with us because he had a family and whatnot and wanted to settle down? Seems like a strange decision, it this is true.

He got the major shaft with how they pulled that trick on him with Malone and re-signing that contract. Karl doesn't play to his strengths either. I don't blame him for wanting out, and I think with the way Karl utilizes Rudy we're better off trading him as well. IMO he has been awful this season, and detrimental to ball movement.

Fun fact:
There are only 31 players in the league that have 100 or more isolation plays this season. Rudy and Cousins are both in the bottom 5 for points scored per ISO (this includes free throws).

Don't know how credible this is. He is saying this based off another tweet. A tweet that collison (also mentioned in it) denied publicly. The problem with tweets sometimes is someone is tweeting something they read from another tweet that they heard from a source.

The problem with tweets is it opens the door to random people saying whatever they want with no consequences. We already have a company full of those 'journalists'/'pundit' at ESPN. (And I used those terms loosely.)

Twitter is the dark side of communication. Too short to be meaningful and so open to interpretation that tweets are more of a Rorschach test than any true communication of ideas.

he also signed that long-term deal with us while under the impression that mike malone was going to be the long-term head coach. at the time of malone's firing, he expressed frustration, because malone's presence was apparently one of the reasons that rudy felt comfortable re-signing in the first place. since then, he's had two new head coaches in tyrone corbin and george karl, and a third is likely on the way this summer. i rarely give credence to these kinds of trade deadline rumors, but if it were true, i could forgive rudy for wanting out of such an unstable environment as he heads into his remaining years as an effective contributor in the nba...

Don't forget that any idiot can have a Twitter account, tweet out the most ridiculous "trade rumor" and someone somewhere will pick it up and run with it. I'm waiting now for somebody to come up with the "Well, Rudy didn't deny it so it must be true" crap.

I hate the 48 hours before the trade deadline.

AmicK >>>>>>>>>> AmicO

remember that one. Sam Amico has spent his career just making stuff up. That he still has a career is either an insult to his bosses or to fans buying his tabloid approach.

There's always the blind squirrel rule, but colossal grain of salt when that byline is included.

Let's be clear - whether the info is good or bad he didn't make this one up. He re-reported a tidbit from a podcast. He's still an insult to journalism, but at least in this case he's letting somebody else take the risk of actually stating something and instead simply safely tattling that "so-and-so said this!"

FWIW ...

It's hard for the small core of Twitter addicts to accept, but Twitter just isn't popular enough to be successful. In fact, Twitter is losing customers.
The social media company reported Wednesday that it lost 2 million users in the last three months of 2015. Shares plummeted as much as 12% in after-hours trading.

http://money.cnn.com/2016/02/10/technology/twitter-stock-users/index.html

One can only hope it continues to falter.

Last week when Grant interviewed Karl, George made the point that during the 2 week span leading up to the All Star break there were things being reported in the media about himself and the Kings that were not even close to being the truth. I believe him as I have seen bad information being written and reported first hand. I do not trust the information I hear or read in the media and I sure as heck do not trust social media. I have accepted that fact that there is really no way for me to know "truth."

I would not be surprised if Gay was pushing for a trade. It's just that ball dominant small forwards that wont defend or rebound are not a prized commodity in the NBA. If they could trade Gay for Victor Olidipo and a contract to help match the money I say go for it. He does not help us win.

Welcome aboard the Oladipo trade train! I've been lobbying for it for weeks now. I think Orlando would be dumb to let him go, but if they are open to it and the Kings can pull off any kind of deal that doesn't include Boogie or WCS -- find a way to get it DONE!

The question is WHY hasn't Gay demanded a trade yet?

I thought he would have gone full revolt after he signed his contract and then malone got fired. IMO, the FO sold him a false bill of goods.

Possibly, but perhaps there are other considerations?

Seems every Kings fan has one or two things they have latched onto and can't let go of, but I suspect the players have more comprehensive and nuanced motivations. I don't claim to know what they are are, but that the simplifications of "if x, therefore y" probably aren't going to apply to players in any sort of consistent sense. Maybe Rudy likes Cousins. Maybe he likes the town. Maybe his friend Rondo is here. Maybe he is asking out, but for a different reason. Who knows. All I can almost guarantee is that Amico doesn't know either.

I don't believe it, but it's believable.

:p

This org is a **** show. I wouldn't blame anyone for wanting out.

Which is why hacks like Amico are posting a bunch of rumors about us all willy nilly.

Twitter is one of the worst methods of communication mankind has ever invented (and I don't say that lightly).

Further, this latest tweet may well be incorrect.

However, if it was true, then this team is DONE, and we are in for a horrendous ride of interminable sucking.
It would mean that the players have given up on it working out here, and they are fleeing a sinking ship and want out of here before they become covered with the crap that this franchise is going to be covered in.

I'm not saying that is the case - I am saying that if this tweet was true, then it's the beginning of the end for this version of the franchise.
It's a scary tweet.
I really hope it's not close to accurate.

The tweet isn't true. The cake is a lie.

Considering the source, I find it very hard to believe. I will start believing it when more reputable journos start reporting it.
