Amick: Vlade not about to be bullied

Perhaps, but the text that Brick quotes seems to indicate that Vivek told Fegan to go ahead and pursue a trade once Fegan made it clear that Cousins wanted out.

Maybe Amick worded that badly, but I doubt it. It's kind of important.

That's how I read it. Vivek told Fegan he could try to put together a trade for Vlade to consider. I honestly don't see an issue there if Cousins and his agent want him out of Sacramento. If they can net a good enough offer then maybe Vlade says yes. But they didn't.

"As has been reported, Golden State Warriors assistant general manager Travis Schlenk will receive strong consideration for the Kings front office role "

Can we not hire anyone from
GS please we need our own identity

The guys I liked most as GM candidates when Petrie was let go were Sam Hinkie and Travis Schlenk.

Yeah, Schlenk is a hotter name now due to the Warriors success but he also came up under Chuck Daly and Pat Riley. He's been a video guy, a scout, and an assistant coach. He's a grinder.

He marries analytics with old school talent evaluation and places a premium on meshing personalities and team chemistry.

I'd love him as a hire.

Funny, or not, that the national media has all picked up on that same line from this article that I initially highlighted.

That's because (as I said) that line is batcrap crazy.

It's simply inexplicable.

I'm shocked anyone could write it without some editor or coworker asking "Wait, WTF? You can't be serious."

I don't want the new "GM" or whatever their title will be to have anything other than an advisory role to Vlade. I want Vlade to have full power and control. Bring someone else in, sure, just basically make it crystal clear to them that they are not a decision maker. Vlade is our leader. Period.

I have a feeling Vivek secretly thought he could be that, even with all his, "surround myself with people smarter than me" talk. The key word in that sentence is "myself". I think he finally realized he can't. I really think he thought he could be the functional leader of an NBA franchise, which is why he hired PDA, who is essentially an advisor type person, not, obviously we know now, an organizational leader.

Yeah I'm a little uncomfortable about hiring a GM... They should just have Vlade as the Vice president/GM and hire an advisor like Golden State did with Jerry West.

VD: We have someone right now who’s pretty good and when I don’t know or Mike (Bratz) doesn’t know, we have a guy and when we don’t know how something works, he delivers. If he doesn’t know, he goes in his office and reads stuff and in two minutes he lays it on the table so we know what’s going on.
Apparently Kings employ a guy, who probably has to check Coon's CBA FAQ once in a while.:p

he's a douche of an owner.
I've been critical at times, but I think Vivek is getting smarter and more competent all the time, with Exhibit A being the hiring of Vlade Divak and Exhibit B the ceding of decision-making authority to him. Also remember the time period when he supposedly granted this permission (well before the days leading up to the draft, if you go back and read the history of Cousins' request)...the organizational environment was quite a bit different. Also consider how accurate almost every article stirred up by the Feganites and PDA has been.

Vlade is not about to be bullied bruh. Not even by his owner/boss. This right here is a good sign, Vlade has iterated and reiterated that HE is in charge and has the cajones to stand up to anyone. "You hired me for this job? Then LET ME DO MY JOB!"
"THEY TOOK OUR JOBS!!"
