Amick: Vlade not about to be bullied

"I just was tired last week, or days, of these rumors, and putting a lot of stuff on our back, making this even harder than it is," Divac said in an interview with Sacramento radio station KHTK 1140 Friday morning. "I try to be who I am, and try to do my job best I can and try to do the best I can for the franchise. I'm not going to let somebody change my mind because they're putting (threats in) the paper or putting the pressure on me. I'll do the best I can to improve this team."

So when Fegan tried to orchestrate a trade that would send Cousins to the Los Angeles Lakers in the days leading up to the draft – one that Kings owner Vivek Ranadive gave him permission to pursue when he made it clear that Cousins wanted out – it wouldn't have shocked anyone if Divac decided to do the deal just to quiet this storm. Instead, he's trying to fix a fractured situation on his terms.

Good find. Shared it. Ideally a little more of this gets out and people in the national realms are not so quick to mock our organization.

Good, because Vlade has a lot of work to do. This team, as currently constructed, is not a playoff team. This team is in dire need of a quality starting PG as well as additional solid bench pieces. DeMarcus Cousins deserves to have a great team around him, and it is up to our front office to make that happen. We have a generational center with unlimited potential

Notice that the National media doesn't even acknowledge Vlade other than he's some new guy that's been chain smoking in Serbia the last 15 years. All you hear is Vivek, Karl, Cosuins. Basically they will stretch any bits of truth they have to keep their narrative alive, since they could give two you know whats about Sacramento.

I didn't know that Vivek had given this the okay. Did Vivek tell Vlade that all personnel decisions were Vlade's and then tell Cousins' agent to go ahead and try and move Cousins without clearing it with Vlade? What the **** is going on? Has Vivek been the problem all along?

I think it's very possible. Tough to know for sure though, because it's highly unlikely that anyone in the organization will indicate so.....unless they've moved on elsewhere

Damn, Vlade has to spend time undoing the crap that his owner AND his coach are doing. And not mentioning the owner in the process. I wonder if Karl went to Vivek and got approval.

Dammit.

I honestly think that the media will do anything to create chaos here. Fegan I think really has an agenda. ....one that is not in the best interest of the kings. I don't think Vivek gave that OK when he clearly said Vlade makes all the personnel decisions.

From beginning to the end, we don't really know who said what, who did that, whose agenda is which. .... but i think Fegan is poisoning the waters. Get him out of cousin's ears.

it has to be with mully and gerbil gone now. process of elimination points to him. really douchey of him to do this crap. whats his excuse? is he broke? trying to move the team? or just f%%%ing bored?

I totally agree with you. But I have to say, if Amick has ever written anything "slanted" about the Kings, I don't remember it. Maybe someone with a better memory can chime in.

I think there's more than one interpretation. I think Vivek gave Vlade the green light to do what he thinks best, and if it meant trading Cousins so be it. I do NOT believe that Vivek said "Hey Vlade. Cousins is the problem so get rid of him."

As far as Amick goes, the only real problem I've had with him over the years is the "no seatbelt" article he wrote about Kevin Martin.

It just goes to show this organization needed leadership. Vivek is a visionary type. People are human. There is too much focus around here on who is to blame. We needed a backbone and Vlade looks to be it.

Maybe under normal circumstances. But, as Kings fans, we've seen more than our share of skullduggery, chicanery, Maloofery, etc. so naturally we want to know who's pulling the strings, spreading the rumors, etc. If we hadn't been so adamant about getting to the truth, we wouldn't be watching a new arena coming to life in downtown Sacramento and we would have watched the Seattle Sonics draft yesterday.

You can also thank our mayor. The current situation is different. The team isn't going anywhere. Vilifying people who probably where trying to do the best they could in a difficult situation and made mistakes, is wrong.

Yeah, whatever.

Perhaps, but the text that Brick quotes seems to indicate that Vivek told Fegan to go ahead and pursue a trade once Fegan made it clear that Cousins wanted out.

Maybe Amick worded that badly, but I doubt it. It's kind of important.

Anyway, let's hope that the WCS selection helps with that situation.

It's good to know that the only person in the front office with some huevos is Vlade....the rest might as well be the snakes in the grass that God's plan referred to.

That portion of the article is ambiguous. I don't think Vivek is talking directly to Fegan, at least not any more. Based on what Vlade has said yesterday and today, it seems clear to me that ALL discussions now go through the guy who says it's all on him. :) (See my avatar.)

I simply cannot mentally process what has been going on with this franchise.
It is unfathomable that an owner would do that.
What exactly does that mean?
Does he just go "Yeah, Boogie, you go ahead and do whatever you feel you need to do with your agent provocateur. We'll help you get yourself traded to the Lakers."

Or are they saying that Vivek and the FO don't talk AT ALL with Demarcus, and Fegan is the Wurmtongue in charge of all matters that involve the ensorcelled Theoden Demarcus.

That just doesn't pass the sniff sanity test.

It's as if people could make up any damn thing they want about Vivek and the FO, and it would be believable that they did it, no matter how batcrap crazy and nonsensical it seems.

i think that's becoming pretty obvious. Luckily it seems like he's finally figuring it out. Considering he let Vlade handle the draft and didn't even know who Vlade was going to pick

if he told Vivek who he was thinking of drafting I think Vivek would of pulled a Jedi Mind Trick like he did with Pete and sway his decision in an instant.
