The Artest thing sounds settled -- unless Ron opts out, the Maloofs (or this Maloof) seems determined to keep him. Worse yet, they are threatening to be the franchise that will extend him the big contract.

But, once again, what are they supposed to say? If Ron doesn't opt out, they need to keep up his trade value. The Maloofs also "seemed determined" to keep Peja, remember?

I hope you are right, and I think you are.

Two months ago we were asking to trade Artest for Linas Kleiza. The Maloofs knew it and were ok with it. Doesn't sound like a guy the owners are are ready to build the team around and give a 5 year/60mill extension to.

So right now the talking points are:
He's playing great
He's a great locker room guy

I'd guess that if he doesn't opt out we'll hear a lot more trade rumors this summer.

I wouldn't want to see what happens if they say, "Heck no, we want that guy gone, the sooner the better."
