Amare needs knee surgery?

I knew it would be worse than they were saying at first. I kinda had that feeling like when Webb went down. Oh well, at least we'll get to see how much of it was really Nash last year, and how much was that unstoppable force who is now sidelined. Too bad for the Suns and Amare, but it does open up the Pacific a little and a real shot at the 3rd seed for us.

Wow. What a blow for the Suns. I think the Kings SHOULD win the Pacific division this year and they are the definate favorites.

Go Kings!!

Given the history of microfracture surgeries, I have to wonder if I would even allow that surgery if I was a player. All of a sudden its all the rage, but it doesn't seem to fix players so much as ruin them for eternity. It may be in its infancy or whatnot, but sorry, my knee is not your guinea pig. What exactly happened to all of today's microfracture recipients 15 years ago? I certainly don't remember major players dropping like flies with mysterious knee ailments -- the giant bugaboo back then used to be ACL tears.

Here's hoping Amare's truly is minor.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Has any player of note ever been the same after one?

away with a non-call against us last year.

com on now. that was a clean block. the goal tending by the mavs on cuttino was BS, but not the amare on miller block.

as for amare it really sucks to see this happen to him

wow that really sucks for the suns organization, and amare himself.

based on what we've seen out of players who's had the surgery, he's not ever going to be the same, even more so when you factor in how big a part athleticism is to his game.

but we'll see how it all plays out. the suns are done for the year though, even if amare comes back, he's not going to be anything close to normal.

Seriously. Now, from what I understand, it helps regrow cartilage. . .correct? So, without it you would have a slow degeneration of the joint, leading to premature arthritis and such. Eventually, you'll walk like Bill Walton. It makes since from a lifestyle standpoint, but why have it done while you're still playing? I imagine a guy like Ron Harper would have been a candidate for this. His knees got bad on him, he slowly went from a top echelon athlete to barely dunking, but he still had a long, solid career. None of the guys who recently had this surgery (Webber, Kidd, Houston, Penny) will be playing beyond their current contracts. Part of that is their age and length of the deals, but they are all D-U-N done athletically. I mean, they're statues out there. Something about this isn't translating from the textbook to the operating room.
