Am I the only one who liked the baby blues last night?

Speaking of pins...

I remember the Kings dropping the ball last year and forgetting the pins for opening night or something like that.

whatever happened with that?

They didn't forget them, IIRC they just gave pins to the season ticket holders instead. No free pins this year, either.

I think your 90% guess is way off. The Kings owners aren't stupid. We fought long and hard to keep the Kings. They are not going to change the name. To do so would make no sense whatsoever and I'm fairly certain would not be well received by the vast majority of fans. Our name and our color scheme is distinctive, unique and meaningful.
The Kings have been in Sacramento for over 30 years, and I think even if they don't do a rebranding, they do a logo redesign. It's past due for it.

The thing that I really liked from the organization is that they went away from the blue.

We fought hard to keep the Kings no doubt, but this is a different era now. I think there's a lot of sense in a rebranding. A new milestone in Sacramento with the Golden 1 Center. New change in ownership...and for course, money.

There is such a thing as tradition, but that's all I'm going to say at this point. You and I will NEVER see this in the same way.

There were no pins - or programs - this year either. There were, on the other hand, the nifty techno-bracelets. I miss the pins and I miss that my collection of opening night programs is now ended.

Thats pretty lame if you ask me. Talk about killing tradition.

Uh, no on the rebranding. That's a really dumb idea.

Logo redesign I could see if they want to. Uniform change too perhaps. But they are NOT changing the name.

Franchise colors through the years. And now into Kings long future in Sacramento - firmly Purple Power!! (occasional retro Powder Blue cool)

Rochester / Cincinnati: Royal blue (red and white)

Kansas City / Omaha: Powder blue (red and white)

Sacramento: Purple (black and white) - formerly Powder blue

Powder blue was never a franchise color. It was always red, white and royal blue. Even the years when they did have the powder blues, the home whites had royal blue in the trim -- not powder blue. That's because the powder blues were a mistake from the manufacturer. They decided to stick with them for a few seasons, but they weren't an official color.
