Just a quick thought on the impending free agency of 'Zo (according to hoopshype.com this is the last year of his contract with Miami)
Is there any reason why the Kings wouldnt' place a cursory call into Mourning to gauge his interest in coming to the team? Obviously, past his prime and wouldn't play more than 20 minutes a night (which is what he averaged this year) but with what he does provide it could seriously help the kings in the playoffs. When you think about our most glaring weakness, it's the lack of any sort of shot blocker in the middle. How many of those Parker/Ginobili layups in Game 5 would have been blocked/altered had we had Zo back there?
I realize this is probably a pipe dream (since it looks like he'll wrap up in Miami with a contender in a place he loves) but will we at least make the call? I'd be willing to offer him a contract in the 3 year/16 million dollar range (approximate MLE) if I were the owner.
Any thoughts are welcome.
