lol I just cannot imagine Iverson playing in Sacramento.
I said the same thing about Artest!

lol I just cannot imagine Iverson playing in Sacramento.
Well, Tinsley, Granger and a pick for Iverson, and yeah, I think I'd throw a chair through a window if I were a Sixers fan and that went through.
On the other hand, Mr. King is the one who gave Kenny his 7 year, $50 million deal, so he may see something in Kenny that 300 million other Americans do not.
My guess at our package is Bibby/Potapenko/Garcia for IVerson and filler
If it's a two-way deal this is my guess as well, although Philly is going to want at least a 1st rounder, and I hope the Kings make a play for Steven Hunter.
Something like:
Bibby
Potapenko
Garcia
2007 1st
for
Iverson
Hunter
one of Philly's minimums
I really don't think that many other teams out there have enough talent to get this done as the Kings do. Bibby is a proven commodity at this point and has proven that he and Webb are great together. If it works out for Philly with Bibby then great. If not, then he'll probably opt out and they get a ton of cap space two years before they would have had they held on to AI. I'm also not that down on adding Martin in the mix if it would get us Iggy back. However, I do not think that Martin's growth would be stunted at all by pairing him in the backcourt with AI. It would one thing if Martin needed 18-20 shots a night to be effective, but he doesn't. He has shown to put up big numbers with a limited number of shot attempts plus he knows how to get to the line.
I'm with you in your thinking. KMart does great on few shots and with someone like AI that is such a leader and goes to the rim at will, KMart would be the recipient of many open looks, Brad too for his 18 footer. We still need a 4/5 shot blocker/rebounder, but AI would be a great addition. Ron more than anything wants to win and with AI being able to take care of business, I think Ron would feel he doesn't need to carry the team by himself and can concentrate on his strength his defense and if he does get the ball in the offense he will drive to the hoop where he is just about unstoppable. I'd love a AI/Artest combo.
I love KMart, but if the 6ers want him in the deal, I really would love to get Iggy here, I really like that guy as well and he is very athletic and has great potential. Eventhough he'd play with AI if they both came over to the Kings, the change of scenary and other players should help both these guys.
I think a Bibby and K9 for AI would be a good trade or if not a Bibby/Corliss for AI would be close to salaries. I really think we are at the head of the group of getting AI, I think ultimately it's our call. They might want KMart, but we'd want Iggy. They might want Miller, but we'd want Dal. We do have lots of expiring contracts so we can offer a good player in Bibby with expiring deals of $11-13M or so after this season and have a lot to offer. Also the Maloofs said they would go over the cap for the right guy, and I think AI is the guy. Also Mike's dad is the asst of there and if Bibby walks after the season that's another $12.5M off the books or more.
If it's a two-way deal this is my guess as well, although Philly is going to want at least a 1st rounder, and I hope the Kings make a play for Steven Hunter.

The deal will be simpler, not more complex if a deal happens IMO. And if we aqcuire a 41% shooter we HAVE to keep Kenny Thomas for his ability to rebound and his knack to offensively rebound....we'll need those extra possession to win.
True, we should try dumping K9s salary, King is the one who invented it right?K9 doesn't demand shots and there will not be any demanding, but mear scraps handed out after AI and Artest go at it.

K9 is the garbage man with 2nd chances and rebounding and Miller is the 7 footer who is away from the hoop, but can defend the other teams 4/5 with K9 helping out. Kmart is the sniper and will hit his shots when he gets the open looks, like Peja did for us.
At the very least this will be exciting B-ball again and we should get our new arena!
I think the Maloofs are looking for this big splash to get it done.![]()
Miller: Second fiddle, recieves kickouts and finds cutting AI's and Martin's.

ESPN's Broussard: Could Iverson and Artest exist together?
posted: Monday, December 11, 2006
excerpt:
Maloof, owner of the Sacramento Kings, told me today that he would have no fear whatsoever of putting the volatile Ron Artest and the volatile Allen Iverson together as teammates.
"Absolutely not," Maloof said in a telephone conversation. "I think they would be fabulous together because they both have the same personalities. They both want to win. They're both warriors. And they both bring it in every game. When you get guys like that together, there's no telling what can happen."
Maloof did not say the Kings were definitely out to trade for Iverson. He said team president Geoff Petrie was handling all trade talks, and would be the one to determine whether Sacramento becomes a major player in the A.I. Sweepstakes.
However, Maloof said Petrie told him a few days ago that the Kings were "in the mix" for Iverson.

Word...Everyone potentially has a role for themselves with this "new" team.
AI: Shoots almost everything, but also has the confidence to drive and dish to both Miller and KMart standing somewhere on the perimeter.
Artest: Shoots everything else, but can still dish out to KMart/Miller/AI when he is doubled on the block.
KMart: Playing as a role player of sorts is probably best for him at this point, and with defenses keying in on AI/Artest to shoot everything and do what they do best he should be the recipient of many a open-look from the outside on kickouts from collapsing D's.
Miller: Second fiddle, recieves kickouts and finds cutting AI's and Martin's.
Thomas: Rebounds and putbacks, baby.
Okay that's all well and good, I suppose. But WHICH Maloof supposedly made the comments? Basically all that's been said is that one of the Maloofs doesn't think there'd be a problem with Artest and Iverson on the court for the same time. The other stuff is pretty non-commital with the requisite spin by the writer to make it look appealing. I think every team might be considered to be intiially in the mix...
When I see this...people just haven't watched Iverson play much. There is no room for a "second fiddle". And players for kickouts have never really mattered that much. Best team he was ever on could barely shoot a lick, and everyone from Webb to Stackhouse to Hughes to Big Dog to Van Horn to Tim Thomas to Toni Kukoc to Jim Jackson has struggled alongside him.
This is the typical Iverson scoring structure:
Iverson: 30
#2 scorer: 14
#3 scorer: 12
#4 scorer: 10
Nor do those #2 and #3 options actually see their shooting %s go up -- they go the other way because the onyl way you are shooting is where and when A.I. gets you the ball after he's run out of options. So you are eternally shooting up against the clock, from his spots, not yours. Ron will be here -- squeezing him in as the #2 option is already going to to be a tough tough sell. But for this to work, he will have to acept it. MAYBE we can gt him 15ppg. Maybe. So that pretty much only leaves the 12ppg and 10ppg scoring roles up for grabs. And that's it. Kevin as Kyle Korver? Or a more one-dimensional Iggy really? Brad as Matt Geiger? If you have ofensive minded players sitting around on an Iverson team...just a waste. Let alone anybody who needs to be in a rhythm.
ya know...i don't even know what to think at this point. when stojakovic for artest rumors first appeared, i knew exactly where i stood. i wanted to see artest in a kings uniform. when webber was traded, i new exactly where i stood. i thought it was a mistake. with the iverson situation, i don't know where i stand. i like the benefits of bringing him to sacramento. i dislike the drawbacks of bringing him to sacramento. and the benefits and drawbacks seem so equal in all the plausible trade scenarios that i can't make up my mind! its frustrating!
i guess i just can't quite get myself to believe that he'll ever be in a kings uniform. hell, i can't get myself to believe that he'll ever wear anything other than a sixers uniform, and they've already said they plan on trading them.![]()
People keep pointing to this but...maybe people just haven't really watched Iverson play very intently. There is no room for a "second fiddle".
