All-inclusive DMC non-game discussion thread

I just want to make a quick point here: Cousins, despite being a head case, despite all of the trade speculation and friction between him and the coach, went out tonight and produced a triple double in a decisive victory. No matter what's happening off of the court, he was still productive on it. If we trade him, I don't see much of a chance of us getting a player that can impact games the way Cousins can. Our team is in desperate need of productivity. This is a star's league in that it emphasizes quality over quantity. If we trade Cousins now, we likely get back some decent at best young players, maybe a serviceable vet or two, and late picks in a weak draft. That is how bad teams stay bad. As of yet, he hasn't demanded a trade, and if he does, we should give him the Chris Webber treatment ("kid, you play in Sacramento or you don't play").

Kevin Love lost a LOT of weight, more than Cousins did, and still had a monster year on the boards last year...............

Been saying this for awhile, he needs to put on muscle. He looks lean but he has a weak lower body and his upper body strength can use work. Thats why he can't finish strong on the inside because he loses his balance from not being strong enough. He doesn't have to look like Dwight Howard but if he was as built as Kendrick Perkins, he would toss guys around with ease.

I think hes big and strong enough as he is the difference between him missing/making is lay ups how strong he goes to the rim, when he goes strong he can finish through contact when he goes weak and tries to flip it up he misses, imo muscle gain has as many negitives as it does positives, hes better off working on his actual post moves and using his half hook more than putting on muscle imo.

This could be good... looks like teammates gave DMC a reality check...

"When he apologized to the team, two players stood up and said, 'We've
heard this bull[bleep] before,'" the source said. "'You're either going to be
with us, or you're not. We don't want to hear any more excuses.'"

Also interesting:

"The Kings have tried to persuade Cousins to enter counseling."

Good for them! They aren't the only ones who are tired of it!

Maybe the Kings could hire Robin Williams and he could take Cuz to a park bench near a pond and talk to him into entering counseling. It sure worked with Will Hunting.

That's good news. I hope it was our good players too.

This is very good news. Apparently we have some players on our team with some balls. (So maybe we do have a veteran core?) It also tells you that they are tired of the Cousins' BS (i.e. he has been a cancer) and don't much care anymore about apologies; they want action. I don't know exactly what the Maloofs have done, or Petrie, or Smart with respect to Cousins, but the players can effectively usurp all of them if they just put their feet down about Cousins' behavior.

Geoff Petrie to @daldridgetnt "He's not going anywhere. You can lay that to rest. Some of that stuff lives in its own reality." #nbakings

Phew.

Good news indeed. Hayes and Salmons come up as suspects, and I noticed JT interacting with Cuz differently during this past game. Cisco seems more like a buddy mentor than a vocal straightener.

It's not your fault

Robin: It's not your fault
Boogie: I know
Robin: It's not your fault
Boogie: I know (smiles) what are you talking about
Robin: It's not your fault
Boogie: Shut UP!
Robin: It's not your fault
Boogie: Cries, hugs Robin, then rips his head off!

"Geoff preferred Greg Monroe" before the 2010 Draft, the source said. "But (Petrie) was a friend of Paul's and he was trying to help him win more right away...when Paul was there, he did a lot of things to try and help him win games, because (former coaches Eric) Musselman and (Reggie) Theus had been such disasters. Paul was a contemporary of Geoff's; he was a smart guy."

No surprise that Petrie wanted the softer jump shooter. Of course, trying to win right away is why we're stuck with Evans instead of one of the multiple PGs from that draft that are producing winning teams.

Well, Petrie would have made the right pick far. Monroe has been much more productive in 2 1/2 seasons.

They have been about the same.

Monroe is every bit the rebounder/passer/defensive player that Cousins has been but does it far more efficiently, he's not a ball-stopper and doesn't have the off-court issues. Again, Monroe has fairly easily been the better player

You are only suppose to look at totals and completely ignore defense when judging Boogie.

Well done!

Cuz is a better defender than Monroe.

Nope. I wish I could go back 3 years, but they again are essentially the same player defensively. Cousins allows 0.81 PPP and Monroe 0.82. DeMarcus has an opponent PER of 19.2 while Monroe has an opponent PER of 20. With regards to On/OFF court statistics, the Kings allow 5 less points when DeMarcus is off the floor while the Pistons defense stays the same with Monroe off the floor. Both are not great defenders by any means.

It's kind of scary how similar of players they are. Monroe is just far more valuable with his efficiency and ability to be productive without completely dominating the ball like Cousins does

This is a great point and something I've been saying for a while. Cousins is around a 43% career shooter and only 41% this year! That is terrible for a 6'11 player. Like you say, he simply is not an efficient player. Even last night when he shot the ball pretty well he scored 21 points on 21 shots. That's not very efficient.

This is one of the issues with our team. We have so many players who require the ball and shots in order to be productive and having our 6'11 "franchise" center as one of those guys really hurts.

There is a big difference. Cuz is being asked to be the best player on the team. Monroe is not. There is a lot more pressure on Cuz to perform and take the load.
