A deadline type move..Realistic Sac/Cle/Atl

perezident

G-League
Sac trades: Brad Miller Quincy Douby
gets: Zaza Pachulia Eric Snow & 1st rounder 09 top 2 protected (atl)

Lineup
Hawes/Zaza/Sheldon
Mikki/Thompson/Kenny/SAR*
Salmons/Greene
Kevin/Garcia
Beno/Jackson/Snow*/Brown*

Reason: Continues the rebuild mode in the right direction clearing cap space for 09 and doesnt kill 2010 plans

Cavs trades: Eric Snow (2nd rounder, maybe)
Gets: Speedy Claxton & Solomon Jones

Lineup
BigZ/BigBen
AV/Hickson/S.Jones
Lebron/Pavlovic
Wally/Gibson/Kinsey
Mo/Speedy

Reason: Get a much needed serviceable quick defensive PG who can push the ball up the court and actually knows his role. Jones showed some promise in the PO's when he got some burn against the Celts. He has a nack for rebounding and blocking shots. (Plays a DJ Benga type role on D) and he's also an expiring. With the likes of Cavs not resigning West this deal looks quite good imo. If West then is signed then the depth chart looks even better.

Atl trades: Zaza Pachulia Speedy Claxton & Solomon Jones
gets: Brad Miller Quincy Douby & 2nd rounder (maybe, from Cavs)

Lineup
Brad/Morris
Horford/Marvin/Hunter*
Smith/Evans
JJ/Douby/Gardner
Bibby/Law/Flip

Reason: With everyone in the East looks to be getting better, this deal imo keeps Atl competive and makes their bench that much better from last yr. With getting Douby and having Marvin and Evans on the bench makes them alot deeper. Sliding Horford to his natural position is a plus as well.

thoughts?

Claxton may never play again. I don't see Cleveland doing that, particularly when they already have Delonte West.

how bout

Sac trades
Brad Miller
John Salmons
Quincy Douby
2nd round pick

for

Atlantas

Marvin Williams
Speedy Claxton
ZaZa Pachulia

why for us?

we rebuild and try our luck with Williams as the SF we get a lot younger with pachulia and Williams

hawks might do this since they get a vet in miller and salmons and a young shooter in quincy douby they they automatically become one of the better teams in the east. they can put salmons on the bench while starting Josh smith at the 3 and horford at the 4

Why are you in love with Zaza Pachulia? I would much rather have John Salmons at the 3 than Marvin Williams. We're also already grooming Dante Greene and Francisco Garcia for that position, so why give away a serviceable NBA center for some expensive projects?

I won't speak for Aenadin, but I, personally, liked the fight I saw from Zaza in Atlanta's first round series against Boston. He's also, more importantly, an expring contract. As for Greene and Cisco, we don't really know what Greene could do, and I don't see Cisco ever being more than a 6th man type. Why not stockpile the prospects if you can? The only thing expensive in this deal is Speedy, which is the one qualm I'd have about doing this deal. As for whether the Hawks would do it, that's another matter entirely.

To me, some of these trades, seem to have no purpose other than just trading to be trading. Zaza is not a bad player, and he's still young. However, up to this point he's below the league average in scoring, rebounding and assists. He has had some nice moments though, I'll give him that. Speedy was born injured. I know at one time Petrie was interested in him, but I think the urge passed. Williams is a terrible outside shooter.. Is that what you want from a SF? Right now, at this moment in time, Greene is a better shooter than Williams. He's just as athletic and has more passing skills.

So, out of the three, the only one I would be interested in is Zaza. And for that I'm susposed to give up two starters and one bench player that was a first round pick. I'm not opposed to trading any of them, but I think they're worth a lot more than we would be getting in return.
