A consistently inconsistent nightmarish season...

I'm not sure where to post this random info but here it is. Looking at dismal record of the Kings this year I noticed they've had about a dozen games lost by 5 pts or less (including tonight to Cleveland) but by same token have been blow out 20 pts or more in twelve games. For what it's worth four of the close ones were under Reggie Theus with seven blowouts under him. Kenny Natt has seen seven games go down to the wire ending in loses with five blowouts to his discredit - including the two worst massacres of the season - a 48 point loss to Phoenix and 45 point loss to Boston. With all the injuries, coaching change, trades, assorted turmoil the Kings loses have piled up way beyond any ones worst imagination at beginning of the season. There was one three game win streak under Theus but zero two game W streaks all season long. A consistently inconsistent nightmarish season is the best way I can put it. But to quote Gavin Maloof roughly tonight, "we gotta have one impact player from the draft but really with three (2 first round and 1 high second round) we need them all to be great Geoff Petire picks." As they say - sometimes it's better to be lucky than good.

I don't mind what happened tonight. We were energetic, competed, the young guys got minutes, and we improved our draft chances. To me any game where we compete, are close at the end, and lose in the end is what we need right now. It can be fustrating to watch, but it is best for the team in the long run. Wins don't do anything good for us right now.

And the perfect cure for that dreaded 8th-10th seed syndrome every season. Lets take our lumps this year and next, and come out with a nice nucleus that can compete for years to come.
