4. Man, that's a heck of a rookie crop in Sacramento, huh? Already, Jason Thompson and Bobby Brown have impressed, and now here comes Donte Greene to add to the fun. The 6-foot-9 small forward got an out-of-the-blue start last night and scored 15 points on just nine shots as the Kings stunned the Hornets in New Orleans 105-96, without Kevin Martin, Francisco Garcia and Mikki Moore.
I had set the bar pretty low for Sacramento this season, but it's apparent that with a strong rookie class and a big second-year step-up from Spencer Hawes (more coming on him today in my All-Surprises team), the Kings will be closer to competence than I had expected. This isn't a playoff team by any stretch -- they had scarcely been competitive on the road before yesterday -- but it's nice to see the youth movement bearing some fruit.
