4th of game 5 a joke

#1
Finally this frustrating season is over. Ray's last basket pretty much summed up the last 6 min. of the game and like customary Kings the team choked. I for one am embarrassed. We lost to the better team (barely better), but I thought we would've done better than one win. The game 4 loss was a complete joke and when we had the game tonight we handed the Sonics the series. There was no fight or heart at the end of game 5. We let them do whatever they wanted the last 6 mins. We fouled out of frustration instead of trying to make a stop, and when we did, we let them keep rolling with an offensive board. I am disgusted at this series. Guess I'll have plenty of time to drown it out with this long *** off season.

I thought we played with plenty of heart all game tonight. Even the guys who weren't doing as well (Miller, etc.) were fighting through big time frustration. Say whatever you wish, but when the deal was sealed it ate the guys up inside.

I also thought the Kings played with their heart so I don't have much complaint.

Sonics won this series because of Ray Allen. Ray played great each game and he is the reason the Sonics are going to the 2nd round. That layup Ray made was just a great play by him. I don't think anyone in Kings could have guarded him. He's been doing that pretty much the whole series. If I was a Sonics fan, I would have wanted Ray to do that same (attempt that layup).

In any given game, you can only give so much. The guys played their heart out there, and they ran out of steam in the end. But they almost pulled it off. Would it have been nice if some of the starters had rested a bit more, and weren't running on fumes? Of course, but that's the coach's decision, and no matter what decision RA made, it would have been questioned if we lost.

I will never be embarrassed when the team plays their heart out and loses by a slim margin to a better team. Never.

We were within 2 points and just couldn't pull it out but they played well and the intensity was back. That was very good to see going into TDOS.

If you're embarrassed, that's on you. Personally I am still quite proud of our team and what they did DESPITE everything they went through.

If you want to hang your head in shame, that's your problem.

Wasn't really a fair fight from the start. Everyone was talking about how the Kings had more experience on their side. Well, that was the complete reverse. The Kings needed some serious training camp time.

The fact that they made it this far is a testament to their heart.

Out of all the games this post season, this is the one that I thought they showed the most heart. They simply did not have enough to finish. Maybe I am a "glass is half full" type of person, but I much prefer to look at the good from tonight. 1) Bibby can and will lead this team. 2) Peja can play in the playoffs, including staying aggressive until the end. 3)We have some GOOD bench players that WE can choose to keep or use to trade to bring in another player.
I was impressed with their heart and drive tonight.
Don't you think the time for criticizing the players and coaches is over? The season is done and as far as I am concerned, the have a GREAT season and unfortunate postseason. HOWEVER, they did not fall below expectations. If anything, if we looked at things realistically, we surpassed expections after our trades.

Im not saying we played with no heart. Can you honestly tell me though the last few mins of that game the team was playing like their season was on the line? No.......we had our chances........we gave them the game. Brad threw two really bad passes at the end. We gave bad fouls. The D was weak compared to the rest of the game. Rebounds.........well all I'm saying about that is when you want a rebound, you fight and GO GET IT.

Once Bibby gets guys on the floor he can trust than I have every bit of confidence the team will be alright. When Peja, Brad, and Bibby were out there tonight it was basically a 3 man game because they KNOW eachothers movements and such.

Yes, I can. We played to our strenghts and lost. Have we at any point in the season been a clutch rebounding team? No, we have not. Brad just did not have anything left. He played more minutes tonight than any game since Feb. I think he got frustrated at the end, but I in NO WAY think that it was because his play was weak or without passion. If anything, there was too much passion.

Uhh, Brad has only played 5 games since he BROKE his leg, he played 40+ minutes tonight, ran out of gas. He never was much of a jumper but you add the fatigue and coming back from a injury, there ya go. He did have a lot of assists.

I thought the team played with a lot of heart and I dont question RA with leaving in the starters.

Whatever.

This team battled back after a lot this year. They lost key players, they had injuries at the worst times, etc. The fact they even MADE it to the playoffs is a tribute to their desire to win. If you cannot honor them for that, shame on you.

We are just a lousy defensive and rebounding team right now, and unless Geoff has really been pulling the wool over our eyes the last few years, that will have to be addressed in a big way in the offseason. But tonight they really tried in the ways that this particular set of players can try. We just don't have anybody for whom inspired effort means dominate the glass or shut down his opponent. When our guys are inspired, they all try to score.

Did you see Brad's face after that turnover? Well. His face said it all. Making mistakes doesn't mean you're not trying.

Sorry, all I saw out there was intensity, effort and heart. Did you expect us to win this series? I hoped for it with all my heart, but didn't expect it. I'm extremely proud of how this team played tonight considering all that has happened since the end of last season.

Sonics:
-Same roster has played together two years with Nate McMillan
-Have Ray Allen, an acknowledged superstar with playoff experience
-Are a team that was 2nd in the league only to Detroit in outrebounding their opponents this season (so that means 28 teams are worse rebounders than the Sonics)

Kings:
-This roster played together for the 1st time in Game 1 of the POs
-Adelman had to try and figure things out on the fly while in the POs
-Brad was coming back from a broken leg and Bobby hadn't played since Dec

You know, I would never have used that phrase about Ray Allen until this series. He was clearly a step BELOW the superstars, the uber-talented LeBrons, Wades, Kobes, TMacs, A.I.s etc. But the way he played this series was remarkable. Just easily the best player on the floor throughout the series, hit big big shots, and really separated himself from the pack.

I think he's been extremely good for a quite a while and has stepped it up in the post-season before. I think he's just so quiet...just works with no fanfare. And being on the Bucks and then the Sonics last year kept him out of the limelight.

Reminds me of Duncan in a way. Duncan just has the rings.

this game changed on one no call!

When peja drove to the lane on the fast break and got obviously fouled and got no call, then the sonics got the ball back and they called the swip foul on peja and the soncis got the 3 point play!

The kings core of Peja, Mike and Brad played with as much heart and determination I had seen from them this season.

I find it really sad that the refs decided to play swallow the whistle against the kings in the 4th quarter when they were being the agressor. The calls in my opinion were just not being called the same on both ends and it ended up costing us the game.

Nothing against the rest of the sonics but ray allen was the only reason they took control of this series.

But one intersesting note for the last 2 games ray allen was not called for a foul! How on earth can you play 88 minutes and not commit a foul?

#21
^Nope, I don't buy it. The refs didn't tell the Kings to stand flat-footed when a rebound came their way or to stop passing the ball beautifully like they did in the 3rd.

Bad call, yes. But I'm waiting for the Kings to grow up one day and stop looking to the refs and start looking within themselves and rising above bad calls. The great teams do this. The OK teams look for bail-outs. This year, we were OK.

cookie,

look at the game flow, it changed on that one play!

the score was kings 93-sonics 92 and pejas FT's would have made the game a 3 point game instead it became a 2 point defecit a play later.

after that play the sonics went on 10-2 run and basically sealed the win.

So yes the game flow was changed on one play.

The refs swallowing there whistles on one side and not letting the other team play the same defense is crazy, and my point about ray allen playing 80+ minutes without being whistled for a foul is crazy also!

#23
Jim, we had 6 straight chances to just grab a rebound and then cut into the lead some more. We threw two balls away and let one bounce off our hands out of bounds.

The only reason the game flow changed after this non-call/call is because the players and the coach were still dwelling on it, and got rattled.

yup exactly ray allen killed us. i would have had a hole different percpective on the game if we didnt play with heart, but i truly think we did. its just not our time yet, but when that time comes, its going to be great!

cookie,
it still changed on one no call! if the players got frazzled by it then that changed it!
the game completely changed on that play and the kings let it affect them.

that still does not make for any reason for the kings not to get the ability to play the same d the other team does.
