Shanny has history with SF, wonder if he could be brought on as OC/Asst. Head Coach or if that's beneath him? Then the 9ers could sell the farm to get Cassel.

At 56, Shanahan has a lot of coaching left. I think that even if he did accept an assistant job, he'd want to be back out there as a #1 after a couple of seasons, and that's why the Niners should be careful there. They need consistency.

Shoot, I almost wish we'd waited on the Singletary thing. I'd love to have Shanahan as the head coach......

Ah well, might work out just fine.
