4/5-4/7 LA Dodgers @ SF Giants

Well... today was the beginning of a new year in San Francisco Giants baseball. Series by Series I will make a thread for discussion relating to the events within games and within the time in which the series is being held.

Overall good game today... wasnt able to watch it all but from looking at it Schmidt got off to a rocky start giving up a lead off homerun but from there he settled down and left with a win. Armando pitched well for the whole inning he was given and Scott pitched very well through 2 at bats where he was in his 10+ pitch of both as I rememmber and got the strikeouts.

Keep it up Giants... World Series Champs in 2005!

Good opening day win for the Giants. Solid defense, especially late helped and LA's defense stunk late.

I'm hoping for a healthy and productive year for Durham. He kind of gave up on a bag he had stolen early in the game, when he was expecting a hit and run. I mean he had the bag stolen and just slowed way up and got gunned. That's the only negative that stuck out for me...well and Schmidt still seems a little off with his pitches.

-Schmidt will get better as the year progresses, I can almost guarentee that...Plus, you really can't complain about a 2 run, 8 K, seven inning performance for the first start of the season.

-I, for some reason, thought Scot's fastball was only 88-89ish, but he pumped it up to 94 today! Those were two great duels that he pitched in the 8th.

-Visquel's 9th inning double play was absolutley stunning. I hope we see that all year.

-And finally Benitez got his first save, on opening day, in front of the home crowd. I hope to see many, many more of those!

I have a great feeling about this team, and if we can stay afloat until Bonds gets back, WATCH OUT!

About Schmidt, hehe no pun intended...He did a very good job but it just seems that he's a little off. I am not worried about it though, he'll get even better. Just hope he and all the guys can stay healthy and get Bonds back by at least the stretch run.

Great idea for a thread, Bibby_Is_Clutch. I don't get hardly any of the Giants games here, unless they are playing the Cardinals or Cubs. I will enjoy reading everyone's assessment of what they see. Thanks a lot!!! :D

i was there today!!!! it was AWESOME

man when that weenie izturitz hit that home run, i was like embarassing. i swear i was saying that many times over the first few innings, schmidt was shaky, the bats were awful. first pitch hacking man that PISSES me off. i hate that more then anything.

so i go to get pizza, and i'm watching the TV while in line, and sure enough alfonzo cranks it out and i was like oh damn i missed it.

i went with my good friend who is a dodger fan ( lakers fan) so he was covered in his blue. i was styling with my schmidt shirt and my awesome shorts that say "san francisco" in orange letters on my rear end. i got a little sun burnt, but it's all good. i had a great time, giants winning, gorgeous day.

schmidt got off to a shaky start. he was all over the place at first, but he calmed down and pitched pretty good after the 3rd inning on. i had been complianing about him, saying oh he needs 2 weeks, blah blah, but he really pitched a nice game. i'm not complaining with 4 hits and 9 K's. lowe pitched a good game too, but his D let him down at the wrong time.

we had a good fun time BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOing kent everytime he came up to bat. don't get me wrong, i appreciate what he did when he was here, but his departure, some of the stuff he said to the local media jsut pissed me off and made me not like him any more.

bonds got a LOUD ovation when he was introduced for the 25 man rosters. his speech was nice for his MVP award, the end was " i will be back" man that got a HUGE and LOUD ovation. it gave me goosebumps. that really got everyone going.

just an awesome day at the yard. i'll be there tommorrow night and on thursday also :D

GO GIANTS!!!!

Ouch... today hurt a little bit. Makes you think whether they should have pulled Woody in the 5th and let someone pinch hit and put walker in with the bases loaded. Instead the next inning turns into hell.

ugh last night and tonight, EMBARRASSING!!!!!!!!!

but i'm big time hoarse, man did i YELL my voice off. it's always fun yelling, and BOOOOOOOOOOOOOIng that *** kent, and that ***clown milton bradley.

still, big time embarassing from the offense. HORRIBLE. making that scrub weaver look like greg maddux, making that scrub valentin look like he was a patient hitter, dayam. EMBARASSING. i swear i said that about 50 times in each game, thats just a light estimate. every damn play i was saying that beucase, man the giants were being embarassing.

reuter was alright, but the O and the PEN big time let him down . the rally in the 9th was fun, lots of energy from the oh 4000 people who sticked around ( those losers who left early missed out on the fireworks, LAAAHOOOOOOOOOOOSERS!) we were pretty roudy, it almost reminded me of the ole candlestick crowds, the tuesday night games vs the expos, man i miss those great fans. they've been priced out of the new place :( too many corperate softie fans in the new yard. TERRIBLE D, that should have been 3 errors, but UGH come on, you gotta make those plays.

tonight was pretty bad also, what a pathetic "effort" from the offense. every time we got a hit, it was DP time. tomko was missing all over the place, but still managed to be alright up until the freaking pitcher got an RBI hit ( EMBARASSING!!!!!!!!!!!) then the wheels fell off. the D was unimpressive again. i'm hoping ellison gets a chance to start soon, grissom is killing me out there. and his HACKING is going to kill me by the time i'm freaking 23. feliz is big time pressing. matheny was the only giant to get an XHB, thats saying something.

the rockies are coming into town for orange friday and the weekend, so i'm hoping the giants can get something going offensivly with that horrible staff. alou has to have an MRI on his calf, is he's gone for an exteneded period of time along with bonds, the ginats are ******

still, GO GIANTS!

edit: that to me with the way that team is constructed seems to be about as good as that team is going to be sans gagme, the good news is the giants are going to be better MUCH better. true the bums are with out gagme, werthless and alverez, but bonds is worth 50 times more then the 3 of those guys combined.

Thanks, slug. Now I know Kent is made of pure slime. I can honestly say that Jeff Kent is the only Giants player that I intensely disliked even while he was still with the Giants. Of course, once he left, it became even easier to "intensely dislike" him.

kent got the LOUDEST boo's with every plate apperance. we were giving it to him big time. i of course was always sitting next to some kent supporter who was going " why are you booing kent" DUH!!!! calling us people in the bay area dumb, he stiffed us, and he said a bunch of crap in the newspaper. that ***

i heard a LOT of people saying " kent how you like the power blue unis??" in reference to his infamous french vanilla uni's spew from a few years back LOL!
