I thought there was a big controversy around Dogma when it came out, but I don't see it on the list. Definitely more controversial than Aladdin. Alanis Morissette played God :)

I think the title should read "25 most mainstream controversial movies" ;)

yeah, i agree. i know several films that shoulda been on that list. monica bellucci's 'irreversible' for one...

If the Freaks they're talking about is the film released in 1932, that's a good one. Worth checking out.

Some other good ones on the list -- Natural Born Killers is still one of my favorites -- but I have a huge problem with The Da Vinci Code and United 93 making the list. They're certainly controversial, but it's a tad premature to start labeling two movies released within the last month amongst the most controversial movies of all time.

I KNEW you were ONE OF US!

About nine years ago, I found an original poster for that film -- larger than a standard one-sheet, absolutely gorgeous condition, beautiful art deco artwork -- and let my then girlfriend talk me out of spending the money to buy it.

I'm still kicking myself.

At least I didn't let her have a say when I found the poster for Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!.

Why is United 93 ont hat list? Thought that was pretty much a pure noble feel good approach to that whole tragedy?

Maybe something like Guess Who's Coming to Dinner as well?

There was a slight bit of controversy from a number of people who felt it might be distasteful, I believe. But it certainly wasn't that big of a deal.

^indeed. it was hot when it came out. cant believe its been 12 years. man, where have the years gone? i do remember it was very controversial when it was released. plus rosario dawson was literally discovered on the streets of ny by the director. she and chloe sevigny have actually developed acting careers since.

yah its weird.... i first saw that movie when i was in 8th grade..... it doesnt even seem that long ago....

i feel like going out and renting it....
