[NFL] 2025-2026 Thread

This will be Maye's first game without freezing temps and/or massive winds (peaked at 38mph in the Charger game) since December. I think he should look a little better. Also my understanding is Seattle plays a lot more zone focused defense and he has been carving that up.

I expect a 21-17 ish game. Not calling a winner.

It should be merit based. Not on the opinion of humans who hold grudges
This is the one major flaw with the current HOF voting system (across all sports) that I absolutely cannot stand.
This is also the one major flaw with the current HOF voting system that I do not know the correct solution for, unfortunately.

lol the guy who rewrote the rules in 2005 so Peyton would have a chance, and then Bill re-invented the Pats to be a passing team and still mopped the floor with Peyton for most of his career is bitter.

6 rings with the Pats, 9 appearances, 8 SB rings total, and uhh, a champion in his extracurriculars too, apparently.

Bill Polian is the ultimate loser.

There's got to be other bitter losers on the committee (I assume one father of the year with the initials TD was another) but Polian taking the L on this brings joy to my heart.

Good lord, I despised the Pats but it’s because they won all the time. Such a bad look for the NFL. I hope others like Jimmy Johnson and every body else continue the heat for a while.

I'm not saying the Pats are going to win but your blind hate is showing so hard and making you look silly. The game will be decided by one score.
Hate of what? I dont like either team. Its not about like or dislike of either team, its a conviction about defensive stiflng, and actually about my dislike for the 49ers coaching/management constant neglect of their secondary a majority of seasons since Lynch and Shanahan have come in 8+ years ago . On the game, it may be close for a time, but I'm fairly convinced the Seahawks win by double-digits later in the game. They have better players at majority of positions. And while this season's Seahawks defense is not as good as their 2014 defense, I think we're gonna see something like a 30s-20s game. Patriots offenese is not up to the the Rams level this season. I don't think the Patriots put up more than low 20s. On flip side Walker could have a SuperBowl MVP game - he manaced the Rams and 49ers.

Drake Maye was looking downright shaky in the first half with the Denver pass rush. I discount second half because the weather was so bad. Seattle defense on par with Denver. Seattle might roll in this
Yes, I would say will roll. McVeigh didn't take his FGs and paid the price Of course there was that punt reception muffed turnover that piled it on. Would've much rather seen the Broncos full-strength vs the Seahawks. Tough look for the ponies. Nix certainly a difference maker with his running ability.Patsies haven't been out long enough 4 or 5 years aint close to nearly 2 decades.

On the other hand, I think the world needs to be fully prepared for Sam Darnold to Darnold hard on the biggest stage of his life.
Yes I wouldn't be upset, when you don't like either team similarly, overall it matters less. It would be akin to Barnum and Bailey style entertainment if Darnold revert to his Panthers-Gunam style.

That's a possible score, and in line with Las Vegas more or less. Patriots like the 49ers feasted on a regular season soft-pitch They're young, overachievers this season, and have had the benefit of staying away from major injuries. They did well to dismantle the Texans and helped bring out the worst single playoff performance this season of a QB with Stroud, but also good fortune with opposing teams injuries - especially Chargers, but also Broncos. Patriots took advantage of other teams injury-misfortunates as I see it. As Tetsu mentions, they could coax out Darnold's sh@# tendencies, but I think McDonald will stick with Walker and the defense. Its the usual boring winning formula.

Always dated and preferred older women, but not much older women. Younger Coworker defends his 10-year age gap with younger woman to me with tortoises mating age gaps. Gemeni fills in" As long as both tortoises are mature, large age gaps (e.g., a 90-year-old male and 53-year-old female) are not considered abnormal or problematic for the species." Of course that's tortoises. Apples to hariy bananas.

This is often how it goes, unless its your team, you get tired of the same team winning usually.....I can recall vehemently cheering the Chiefs in their AFC loss (thanks Dee Ford) in 2018 to the Patriots not knowing that they'd be even worse by a few years later. Brady screaming at his own linemen was enough earlier. But Something about this Chiefs teams gets an extra helping of fudge-hate, even more so than the prior Patsies....think its the Kelsey-Mahomes parade - Kelsey if I had to pinpoint it. This season liked watching Mahomes having his worst pro season so far. And no Chiefs was the sound of music......... another example I used to hate the 90s Cowboys too - Irvin there. The team and players you hate fade away though. Hated HATED the 2000's Lakers, but now they're just another team. Little better than watching Shaq-less Bryant give-up later in the 6th game, during their Suns-Lakers series loss in mid 2000s.

You've been constantly trashing them as a no chance team and after seeing it for the tenth time I just had to say it feels like you haven't really watched the Patriots and are running on dislike of them instead of being objective about how they got here. Their defense is top tier, better than almost any team Seattle has played except for Houston's, and that's with Milton Williams missing 1/4 of the season, when he's on they may be in the top 3. Outside the NFC West their schedule is only marginally better than the Patriots. I just don't see them winning by multiple touchdowns against the Pats defense which is far better than the Rams. Unless they get 14+ from defense I don't see them getting more than 3 TDs against a defense that averages 2.25 per game. The Pats had two ugly games in the snow and a third below freezing with 30+ MPH winds so of course Drake looked terrible comparatively. No, he does not have as many weapons as the Rams but there's a reason he was one of the two favorites for the MVP along with Stafford. Everyone has been saying this entire time "oh this is the week the Pats are exposed" and then after the game saying they only won because they got to play a bad QB, as if Herbert and Stroud weren't regarded as high upside young QBs and Bo Nix, who has never played a single game in anything like the conditions last Sunday, would have been the difference maker and not struggled in the same conditions that impacted Drake. I don't think there is any question who the better QB is. It should be noted that Stidham's 50 yarder that set up Denver's only score was the longest passing play of the season this year.

Seattle's a really good team and I don't like to pick games when my favorite team is involved because I don't have an unbiased mind, but the disrespect shown the Patriots because only a handful of experts even predicted they'd win 9 games this year and their schedule is out of hand. Why are last place teams with easy schedules not in the super bowl every year because of soft schedules if that's the only reason the Pats are here? They have a top tier defense and an MVP candidate at QB.

Oh and of course if they win I can already see how instead of giving the Pats their flowers everyone will say its because Darnold sucks and they'd have never beat the Rams.

Yes its the Patriots yet again - pretty tiresome - too early for another SuperBowl appearance ..... 18+ years is a long f#$%n time. 6 years is not long enough to break back into neutrality. Closer, but 8 or 10 maybe. It took a long while to get over the Lakers after 2010 - Bryant was still playing for 5 or 6 seasons, and the 2020 finals was a dumb asterisk year and didn't bother me...........

I've watched a handful of Patriots regular season games and the playoff games. They certainly have taken advantage of their luck and schedule in the playoffs - good for them, but cheap - they didn't have to play better offenses Bills or Jaguars, and drawing Denver's poorish 2nd String QB, and clearly injured Herbert. That leaves one impressive win over the Texans............. I expect the Patriots defense to keep it fairly close the 1st half - I hope not another boring a@# defensive game.......back to the QBs - Herbert was clearly bothered by his baroken wrist and caste-thing, plus an beat-up Charger Oline. NIx is a good fearless runner and leader - reminds of Drew Brees - markedly better than Stidham so yes the Patriots got 1 bad QB and 1 hurt QB/OL - its true. My guess is Stroud contract resigning is now less certain next season - that was the single worst QB performance in these playoffs - alot on him too.

I think most other-team NFL fans wanted the Bills there, and have to suffer *yet another* Patsies appearance though double whammied with the Seahawks for 49ers fans...., this time blindsided more like it. I dont mind the Patriots current team/players, but am annoyed to see them in the SB on the turn of events.. Maye is a good QB - reminds me of a young Ryan Tannehill.

The Patriots have a good defense, maybe a bit better than the Rams, but not far better - no way - and the Rams offense with the best core receivers and RBs, better than the Patriots and for that matter the Seahawks offenses - Rams special teams spotted the Seahawks a crushing shortfield TD. and their coach McVeigh blew it on 2 could've been FGs on 4th downs in a 4 pt loss. I generally agree with folks who said NFC championship game was the defacto Superbowl. Anyway the Patiots would've been underdogs vs the Rams too, I'd have picked the Rams versus the Patriots.

It pains me to say the Seahawks are the class of the NFL this year, but too early for the Patriots to count em neutral again - its the 2015 Superbowl again with neither team desirable - I almost wouldn't mind the Patriots beating the Seahawks - it could happen maybe give it 4/10 .......At least there was no Chiefs in the Playoffs this year, which was something. It'll be an outdoor Superbowl too - hopefully good weather.
