Passing on TJD only makes sense if they are sold on Queta/Lyles at the 5
Slawson is another solid pick. All-around forward similar to Colby Jones, but maybe not as natural of a playmaker, but still a very good passer. He went to a small school and filled up the stat sheet with assists, rebounds, steals, and blocks. The analytics really loved the guy. Despite the lower level of competition, I do think there’s some truth to those numbers. He’ll be a good defender at SF with some flexibility to go a bit bigger.
Like Colby Jones, his biggest weakness is shooting. He’s worse than Colby, but NBA shooting coaches should help a lot. Even with my negative take, he still managed to shoot 39.4% in his final year.

Can ESPN just not cover the second round next year? It’s just absolute hot garbage with all the ads at the end. Or, preferably treat it like the first round. All the casuals have left after the lottery and only the basketball nut jobs are left watching. Show us the picks! Talk about the picks! Crazy

You have to think the trade that got us more cap space is to help on the big situation because neither I think would be a great fit at 5 for long-term.

The thing is that if either of the wings we took today hits, it really doesn't matter what happened with the 24th overall pick. Monte clearly saw our need for wing depth (especially where defense is concerned) and took a couple of educated swings. The metrics for Slawson are insane and if turns out that he's even 75% capable of providing weak side help defense for us like he could at Furman, that's probably a rotation guy. Colby gives us the 2/3 wing help we've been looking for for probably the last ten years. Honestly a lot of what Colby does reminds me of John Salmons (but back when he was good and not when he was the Stinky Fish). We've had plenty of 3/4 wing-forwards but getting Colby finally makes it so we don't have to put Keegan or Harrison Barnes (who we probably aren't bring back) on classic shooting guards as much anymore.
Might O-Max wind up better? Probably. But as far as swings at the wing tree are concerned, I like what we wound up with.

DJ Steward probably. It seems like he’s been on the last 10 summer league teams even though he’s only 21.
Keon Ellis probably.
Queta should as well. I don’t care if he was runner up G league MVP.

A couple undrafted signings
And 3-4 more combo guards in their mid to late 20’s that dribble the air out of the ball and have no chance to make the team…but will manage to make summer league unwatchable after the first few minutes.

it doesn’t seem like any team is investing in back up centers. All less than the mid level type players. Seems likely kings follow suit
He’s injury prone, got suspended by the coach for behavior issues and on top of that his dad is a wannabe Lavar Ball. My guess is he will get a summer league invite with the Pistons at best
We've been spoiled the last couple years with Davion and Keegan lighting it up.
I remember Giles and Bagley's first game in the California Classic. Fox and JJ were out there as well. The arena was electric. Such a good game but the rest of those summer league games were nearly unwatchable.

Honestly, if he can stay healthy and improve his outside shot a bit, he can roam in the high post utilizing his playmaking for the 2nd unit...
I was thinking Dedmon but this is a much better idea.

I’m rooting for him. But I can’t imagine it happens unless he suddenly learned lateral movement to passably defend PF’s or additional bulk to passably guard C’s. He was in such a no-man’s land defensively, which kind of sucked because there were some instincts there.

Vukcevic went to the worst spot to develop talent but at the same time the Wizards are so trash he might even get playing time since they want to tank.
Portland Twitter feels very much like Kings fans either around the breakup of the golden years club or around the Boogie trade.
It's very weird living here but being emotionally detached from Dame enough to see that it's almost certainly never going to happen with him here and that Sharpe and Scoot and a high pick next year plus whatever you could get from Dame now before it gets any worse is probably enough to make this transition a 2-3 year affair and not a 17 year one.

Blazer fans having a mental breakdown over “failing” Dame while meanwhile the ex-draft expert from ESPN who they hired to run their drafts has got them their backcourt of the future and a wing swing in the span of two drafts. They still m red to figure out if Chauncey Billups is their coach of the future..(he isn’t) but they should be in relatively good shape once they finally let go of Dame
The loyalty to Dame is sad because Dame is maneuvering to get out of Portland and onto a winning club without harming his "good guy" image. And yet people were lining up to move #3, Simons, who knows what else for Zion.
