I don't think I misinterpreted. Pretty equal in talent in a draft means to me that the level of talent you get will be at most similar, if not a year or 2 away, from being similar to a full-fledged NBA player currently in the league. So if Monte chose to forego this year's rookie and put more of his eggs in free agency, why would that be an issue?
I dont like the giving away FRP for salary dump, but I think the logic is there when you look at our salary and contract. Next year is the last year of having both Sabonis and Monk on a friendly contract. If you don't take this window to add a key piece in FA, you will never have the chance after we extend both of them.
Yeah maybe we can get Wes Matthews..

We're a good team now and more importantly are the only playoff team with cap room at this point. This isn't quite Vlade flailing and throwing huge contracts at fringe rotation guys.
Your take is completely wrong. No offense. But everyone pretty much agrees that the players being drafted in the late 1st have a solid chance at becoming NBA starters because this draft has quality AND quantity. There’s a reason why Denver made moves to get more draft picks this year in the late 1st/early 2nd.

I think someone actually said, from the pick orders could be drastically moved around from late lotto to draft #35, 40ish. Before the draft, most of us had TJD targetted, we might still have a shot at him now with our, what, #38 pick?

I get it. Leverage our status as a top 3 team, a super fun ball-movement system where everyone is involved with the offense, rising superstar Fox, baby-Jokic in Domas. COY Mike Brown.
This does put us squarely in play for that Cam Johnson/Grant Williams/PJW tier. Could you get two of them? Naz Reid and one of the RFA guys? Bruce Brown and/or Josh Hart?
I think for this to make sense, you have to go get at least two of those guys. 2 starting quality vets that you could plug right away with the core and fit the age timeline.

Less so about that and more about how some of these responses betrayed their youthfulness.
But then again, these days everyone is on an instant gratification trend, so who knows?
That’s what happens when you end up trading your 1st round pick away for…. Cap space. With a likely target being… Kyle freaking Kuzma.
I don’t want to hear anything about Kuzma stunting Keegan’s growth next year when it inevitably happens and we’re stuck wondering why Keegan won’t score 20ppg when he gets a generous 10FGAs each fame.
