I still think the best option is absorbing salary via trade but I'm getting a little nervous. Wasn't there a rumor floated here a week or so ago that the Kings were first going hard after Harden before the Domas deal? Guess who happens to be a free agent. Light the blame! hahaha.

Yeah you do when it's probably the least value contract in the league and the thing keeping you from actual cap space that means anything. Are you really shocked at all by this though? I'm pretty sure you and I had discussions about this for the last year or so. It makes sense. Now, Monte just can't F up that space on a marginal talent.

And why are we making this trade within the conference? I can’t imagine a bottom barrel Wizards team wouldn’t have been happy for this deal.

Monte always seems to have multiple options. I doubt he's got only one plan in mind. My hope is he's already been discussing trades and has a solid deal ready and waiting to make once FA starts.

Wizards didn't have the exception/cap space to make it happen. The CP3 trade can't happen until the start of the new league year.

You can tell who’s been following the draft and who hasn’t. This wasn’t the year to trade away 1st round picks. Why do you guys think we’re the only team to make a trade that didn’t get a draft pick back for this year?

Yeah and I've been vehemently opposed to it in the 17 times we've brought this up haha.

We'll see of course and Monte has earned himself good-will to at finish off this plan. But he just better not whiff in FA by vastly overpaying Kuz or Grant otherwise... ooof. Selling a FRP for the right to massively overpay one of them would be Vladian levels of stupid

Also, keep in mind that we saved about $1.4M on the #24 pick as well since we replace that salary with a roster charge.

This draft is actually pretty deep, but not superstar laden for sure. Sucks for the Kings to have to use the pick like that in a year where there is talent, but that's probably the only reason why this was possible to begin with.

I think youve misinterpreted. They’re a wash because they’re all pretty much equal in talent. The consensus is that this draft is one of the deepest we’ve ever seen.
