Spurs take OKC in 5

Spurs-Indiana

Spurs take Indiana in 6

Spurs take the title! Pop deserves everything and more. I hope Duncan can stay and play another year. With Pop's rotation, Duncan can probably play another year at the highest level.

Duncan is amazing man. 21 points at half-time. If Duncan scores 40 in this game...man. At his age, good for him.

Kawai is going to be a superstar in this league. You can tell Pop has been pushing him to be more aggressive. One year ago he was nowhere near this level of aggression and confidence. Again, genius coaching.

OKC can't throw three starters out there who can't score. Brooks needs to insert another shooter with KD and Westbrick.

The Ibaka injury is nothing more than karma for the rigging that went on to help the Thunder beat the Grizzlies and Cllippers, they should have never made it out of the first round but the ref's/NBA had to take over for them like normal. The amount of horrible bs call's Durrant gets is just beyond over the top, I hope the Spurs stomp them 4-0, scum team with scum players = OKC.

Spurs are honestly playing at such a higher level than anyone else. As much as I hate them, I see them winning it this year. They look better than last year, too

The OKC offence looks exactly like ours when Cousins is not playing in the post with the lack of ball movement and insane chucking (terrible shots). Honestly the Thunder need a better offensive system what they do is pure garbage and they have got by on pure talent cause they have a top 5 PG and a top 5 player. Thabo looks like he's John Salmons and that's not a good thing, Caron Butler is there Marcus Thornton.

Just terrible basketball by a scum team

At this rate OKC will get swept. They have to post up KD in the post more to put some pressure on the Spurs in the paint. I don't know why they even start Perkins, Adams is significantly better and is not a complete liability on offense. In order for the Thunder to even have a chance, KD and Westbrook each need to average 30 a game here on out at least.

If wish the Kings would play like the Spurs. Coaching staff and players should watch their games until their eyes bug out. Maybe they would learn something.

fans all across the nba enjoy saying stuff like this, but if it were easy to "play like the spurs," more teams would be doing so, i can guarantee you that. unfortunately, the spurs are an outlier; their system is predicated on both their ownership's and their front office's unfailing commitment to and faith in gregg popovich, who serves as head coach, president of basketball operations, and supreme chancellor of that entire organization's culture. he's built his legendary teams around three exceptional talents who've been playing together for over a decade, and he is consistently able to surround those three players with a complementary supporting cast because a) he knows exactly what he's looking for, and b) he has the power within the team's structure to get it...

i "wish the kings would play like the spurs," too, but the kings don't have three all-star talents with over a decade's worth of experience playing together. the kings don't have a general manager who is perfectly in sync with his head coach. and the kings don't have a head coach with experience and wins enough to demand the excellence that popovich demands--and receives--day in and day out. you simply will not find a perfect storm of hierarchical synergy like the san antonio spurs anywhere else across the league, although the detroit pistons seem to be attempting a similar organizational structure by installing stan van gundy as both head coach and president of basketball operations. he's being given popovich-level power over the pistons' personnel decisions, and that's a useful power to have if you're a quality head coach who commands some measure of respect...

The main point I want to make about the Spurs is that you're right, it's not easy, and you're right, nobody else does what they do. But the Spurs should be the paradigm for the Kings organization. It should be the goal. Maybe the Kings org can only approximate 90% of what the Spurs do, but right now, it's more like 20%.

Leaving aside the issues of talent and experience, if the Kings management and ownership are as smart as some believe them to be, they should privately and publicly aim to have a team as fundamentally sound and team oriented as the Spurs. To me, that should be their mission statement. And I don't care who the player is, but if that player isn't in agreement with that mission, they've got to get somebody to take his place. And if the coach can't coach up to those standards, they've got to replace him. And I'm not saying we have players or coaches that are not congruent with those standards, but it's got to be the highway for those who don't want to play the right way. Last year, the Kings played like the "anti-Spurs": one pass iso shoot. I'm going to be very dissapointed if they don't improve upon that next year.

On the issue of organization, yes, most definitely the Spurs do have a structural advantage in having Pop run the entire show. That won't happen on the Kings. But the next best thing is to have the coach, gm and owner work hand in glove on an everyday basis, which is what the Kings org is all about. In addition, I still think it's a structural advantage to the Kings when Vivek hired Malone directly. In essence, it gives the coach more power: The players know Malone is one step removed from the owner; it's unlikely they or their agents can make an end-around to the gm to subvert the coach.

I'd love for the Spurs to win it all. It would provide added legitimacy to their way of doing things and do much good for the game.

I can't stand all the calls the Thunder get. They're complete BS. Westbrook just goes charging into the paint and gets sent to the line every single time.

These conference finals really have been a disappointment from an entertainment point of view, too many lop sided games.

Might want to amend that statement.

Well in my defense the Thunder have played a lot better and Westbrook did score 40.. Plus with Ibaka back they are a much different team. My statement can't be compared then and now they have their 3rd best player back and their only solid big man.

Steven Adams has been very impressive for OKC in the POs. His improvement has been rapid. Would have been a good fit next to Cuz.

I've got love for Reggie Miller. I have a soft spot in my heart for players who spent their entire careers with one team. I have no real opinion on his commentating, but he seems to have good chemistry with Webber, so it's cool with me.
