2009 SF Giants Thread

Cards won 3-2! We are now officially only 4.5 back of LA and COL is 3.5 back of the Dodgers.

I'm so tired of hearing all this crap about how LA is running away with the West.
 
Bochy needs to be ****ing fired!!!! The guys a ****ing idiot!!!!!!

He takes Medders out right after he battles back from a 3-0 count and after that p***y Dexter Fouler called time hella late even after he had his manager rub out his thigh for 30 minutes???

and of all people he brings in Justin Miller??? That son of a ***** walked in a run against the pitcher. THE PITCHER! I think that might have been the most pathetic thing I have ever seen. If you're scared to throw a strike against the opposing pitcher then you need to find another job you ****ing scrub! Don't come back to San Francisco, we don't want you. Same goes for that looser Valdez.

When this team starts playing with some ****ing pride and common sense I'll start watching again.
 
I'm actually going to the game tonight vs Arizona. I was hoping they'd be going for a winning streak tonight but no luck.

The pitching matcup is a dandy. Haren vs Cain. My concern is this: If we stink it up on this homestand (3 vs Ari, 3 vs Col), then I think we're done.
 
Great game tonight! Had a load of fun!

1. Great managing by Bochy tonight. When he pulled Howry after 7 pitches and Wilson in the 9th - those 2 moves really saved us.

2. Player of the game - Jeremy Affeldt. Coming in with 1 on and 0 out plus a 2-0 count, and getting 1-2-3 was huge!

3. Freddy Lewis almost blew the whole thing when he misplayed a bounce off the wall but recovered to throw out the runner at home. He was lucky.

4. Crowd poured boos on Howry. Went absolutely crazy for Panda.

5. As BC said, it was a groundhog sorta game. Crazy weird calls. Umps were awful all game long and made some truly weird calls.

6. There was a fight in the stands midway through.

7. Overall, I'm just happy we escaped with the W. Too bad Cain missed out on another one but we got the Haren game - now a sweep is certainly a possibility.
 
Nervous for sure! Bengie was huge though. We have gained ground on LA and COL so far this week.

I'm trying to get tickets to tomorrow's game, Bleacher seats are only 5 bucks tomorrow!
 
Brad Penny has been released today by RS. May be we should get him. Yes, he is fat and has been ineffective last 2 seasons but I guess he is almost a free product now. We can try him as an emergency starter or long reliever. Who knows? I think he can produce 1.4 ... 1.5 WHIP in our extremely pitcher-friendly ball park. Again, he is a free good.

Today Martinez is pitching today. I hope he will show us why Butcher (sorry, Bochy) and Sabean prefer him over my AAA protégé Pucetas :).

We desperately need a win! Go Giants!

Is it funny or pathetic? Or may be I am just going crazy ... please, call 911.
 
Ough, painful to watch .. 0-9 against Arizona ... ARIZONA!!!! At Home!!!

I know, we do not have a lot players available .. but 0-9 at home ... :confused: .. against a 2-8 and 6+ ERA guy. Interesting, could River Cats beat SF Giants today?

Joe seems like a nice guy but almost 2 WHIP and 7.5 ERA both scream that it is a right time to go to the raisin capital of the world. I still think that he can be a nice RP next season. He is just not ready.

Just got back from the game. :rolleyes:

Freddy got booed badly when he misplayed that fly ball. And yes, I think a AAA team could've beaten us tonight. Can somoene explain to me why in the world Nate sat while Fred played? It's a freaking joke. Bochy has got to go. I'm so tired of this franchise's love affair with Fred Lewis. I have no idea why he plays the exact same number of times as Nate. Who's fighting for a wild card spot here? Arizona? :mad::mad:

Fred was defended by Krukow. Like that was a super hard moment for OF. A-ha.

I feel bad for him because I see that he really cares and wants to be good .. the only problem that he cannot hit, cannot catch, just cannot play at MLB level. He is fast but cannot steal bases (8-4), he is strong but cannot translate it into big time hits, he is a true athlete but cannot play defense. There are too much cannots about him. He was made for sports and baseball but somehow it just does not work.

Aaron has been making me upset lately. He was a solid player in Chicago and Philly and what is wrong with him now? Could he just swing the bat sometimes? I do not ask for hits. Close your eyes and swing blindly. You never know --- good things might happen. He had a nice hitting streak couple of months ago. It is like we have seen several different Rowands this season already and it is not the best description for a 10+M veteran.

Yeah I couldn't agree more. Fred is not meant to be a major leagur right now at least and not in SF. Heard a caller on KNBR saying the same thing.. he said it's be different if he was a 20-21 year old kid, but he's not. This is who he is.

As far as Rowand, I am so sick and tired of seeing him swing for the fences on the first 2 pitches and go down 0-2 and then all of a sudden take a called third strike right down the zone.

This team better come out with more heart tonight and the rest of this year.
 
Wow, this one scared me. Great save by Wilson and amazing start by Zito!! But man, we just can't get them easy, can we?

I was following the game online and left it 5-0 top of the 9th and checked back in at 5-3 and nearly wet myself.......good to see we pulled it out. Now we just need Cain to finish off the sweep tomorrow. Too bad the Dodgers won tonight.
 
Zito has been pitching like a true 2nd pitcher lately! I hope it is a new life for him in the Giants organization. We need him like that badly. With our pitiful offense, pitchers (both SPs and RPs) is the only true motor. Unless we'll get couple of new Pandas ;)
