2009 SF Giants Thread

Unfortunately, we have a bad schedule in September. We have to be extremely good and probably sweep Colorado again to win the card. Can we? May be. I hope. However, Denver has more chances I think :(
 
Not a great SP now but a huge upgrade over Joe Martinez. We had a hole and we fill it with a guy like Penny. A good move I think taking into consideration the price tag. Plus Penny is angry now and in our ballpark he can do some good things to prove something to the Dods and RS.
One more veteran solid bat? Never hurts. I heard that the Giants were interested in Gary Sheffield but the Mets decided to keep him.

Honestly, I am not super positive about our chances to win the card because of our schedule but who knows. Anyway, we are having a great season!

I like the Garland move for them, solid pick-up. Thome? Not so much. They really have no where to put him except off the bench.

I really like our signing of Penny. He is going to bolster our rotation even more. He has playoff experience too.

He wants to be a PH for the Dodgers and he's gonna be a solid one.

I knew the game was over when Freddy pinch hit at the end of the game. I know his pinch-hitting BA is great but to end the game, on the road against Brad Lidge?? No.

Ishikawa should've hit to end the game, not Lewis.

At least COL lost, so we're still 1 game out.

BTW, Check out SI this week - there's a great article on Lincecum and Cain.
 
Great win today by the team. Cain finally gets 13, Velez with the web gem, Uribe has 10 HRs now.

Bring out the brooms tomorrow!

I don't care what anyone says... Carney Landsford needs to go after this season. I'm sick of our entire team having ZERO discipline at the plate. So damn frustrating.
 
It's not a surprise to any of us. We've been saying it all year on this board that what would ultimately keep the Giants out of the playoffs (if it so happens they miss the playoffs) would be their inability to score runs. The way our pitching has gone we should be on a 9 game win streak. Our last three losses have been the 2-1 and 1-0 variety. Its simply pathetic. Guys like Sanchez, Zito, Cain, Lincecum and the bullpen are pitching their A**** off and our lineup simply isn't getting the job done. (Sandoval aside)

All I know is we have a 9 game homestand coming up with Padres, Dodgers, and Rockies. I'm thinking we need to take 7 of 9 to have a shot.
 
Great win today...
Loved seeing that offence click. Also loved seeing Brad Penny shut down the Padres and show that this team isn't going to take sh*t from the bottom feeders of the league (i.e. Brewers).

Bochy still finds away to pee me off with bringing in Alex Hinshaw. Why make the fans sweat with taking out Joaquin?
 
I like the Sandoval, Sanchez, Renteria and Uribe infield. Bochy better stick with them, having Sanchez at 2 makes all the difference in the world.
 
I heard that 10 minutes ago .... bad for Timmy but to see Bum pitch is exciting. I hope he is ready and SDP offense is not the worst case.

However, we should have promoted him to AAA in August. And it also means that we have NO MLB-level pitchers in Fresno.
 
Why the hell call up Posey if you're not even going to play him? Bochy needs t quit being scared of Benji and put the kid in... what do we have to loose???

I think he is an insurance catcher .. just in case and they want him to taste an MLB routine. Also, I think that they do not wanna officially play him because of arbitration (to delay it). I do not know a lot about that arbitration thing though. However, next year he must be here!!! No AAA anymore.

At the same time, I think that Bum should play one more season in Fresno. He has stuff but his arm was tired (only after AA season) and he is just not ready physically for a 180 IP season at MLB level. It is absolutely normal taking into consideration his age and no college experience.
 
Down 2 runs, 2 men on and no outs... what do these clowns do? pop up bunt, strike out and an infield pop up. Makes me sick.
