I went ahead and created the league and it's probably a good thing. Draft times are already starting to fill up. Our league will draft on Saturday, Aug. 11 at 10 a.m.

I posted this in the forum on the league page, but I don't think anyone is going to check the page for a while, so I posted it here as well:

Do we have to play 2 Defenses this year? I remember a discussion at the end of last season about playing a normal 1 Defense format or maybe introducing individual defensive players into the league. IDP leagues are fun and there's more than enough players to go around as opposed to defenses, where there are not enough to go around.

The reason I bring this up is because if you play 2 defenses every week, you really need to have 3 defenses on your roster (2 active every week and 1 for your bye 2 weeks). There are only 30 teams, which means that 4 teams will not be able to carry enough defenses. Also, the scoring of defenses last year seemed to really skew the scores. Personally, I'd rather have weekly scores determined by skill positions as opposed to defenses.

Anyone else have an opinion on this?

I'm really not in favor of changing this setting. You don't have to carry 3 defenses all year. All You have to do is pick up a defense for the weeks when one or both of your two is on the bye. That's part of what makes it interesting. You have to ACTIVELY participate to maximize your production.

I hear what you're saying, and I agree it is an interesting twist. I'm not trying to make a big deal out of it. I was just revisiting the topic.

I'd rather have the early to middle picks if I had a choice. Ended up with the second pick and drafted Steven Jackson. Had a ho-hum draft after that.

The real problem with the #1 spot is you don't get to pick again until #24. I don't really understand why Yahoo does that.

I made a couple of goofs but, for the most part, I'm pretty happy with my team. And it looks like we should have fun, again, and that's the main thing.

well, I was pre-ranked for this morning's draft...was happy in getting Maroney and Drew. Also, getting Young at QB. The rest I'll have to tool with until I find the right mix. I do like my squad...I usually like to get 2 good all-purpose backs and a good QB, and I did, so I can work with it. Good picks VF...I like what you did at defense...the Bears are obviously good, but I think Washington will score you some points too, especially with the good additions they made in their secondary, most notable being the 'Warewolves of London' Fletcher.
