2 Things Our Kings Did Last Night ...

They played defense and they rebounded (the whole 48 minutes) !!! My comment on the Kings vs Spurs thread with predictions was a King's loss and:

"NO DEFENSE + NO REBOUNDS = NO WIN" ... glad our Kings did just the opposite ... DEFENSE + REBOUNDS = WIN

Spurs did not play their "A-Game" ... but, that's the way the ball bounces and that's why they play.

I have no problem with C-Webb taking that shot ... of course I was crossing my fingers when he took it, but I wasn't sittin' there saying "No, don't shoot, pass it to someone else ... where the heck is Peja ???".

Great team effort and great team win .... let's see more of this type of play !

Why do we feel weird when C-Webb takes a shot? I mean, he IS the best player on the team all-around, why shouldn't he take it?

I think the fans don't trust him. But he is just proving them wrong over and over again.
This is just ridiculos behavior, especially the booing part.

I think the fans were more worried about the quickness of the shot, not the actual shot. I didn't hear the moans, but I did hear Grant talk about it after he shot it. That should never happen. Webb is our best player, if he has an OPEN shot, take it.

I think the crowd groaned bcuz webb's previous shot or shots missed badly, and they thought that shot was gonna do the same thing, but either way, they should not have done that.

It WASN'T all of the fans. According to a couple of people who were at the game, they didn't even hear the groans.

Now, back to the topic at hand ;)

This is exactly the game I've been hoping for. FOUR quarters of good consistent basketball. I think the Spurs kept waiting for the Kings to let down, and I think it cost them the game. :D

The Spurs may not have played their "A game," but at least part of the reason for that is that they were forced out of their A game - especially as far as Parker, Bowen and Duncan were concerned. That was as much due to the good defense of the Kings as anything else.

As mentioned, I groaned too (albeit at my TV). And I certainly have nothing but open roaring disdain for the Arco boobirds.

Was simply a question of having little confidence that the shot would go in because his last few had been SERIOUSLY off the mark, and knowing that if he missed it we were going to be up against the wall. No groan if we're 20 seconds into the shot clock, because then you have to take it. But at that point he shot it there were options -- could have pulled it down, passed it, driven toward the hoop for a better shot etc.

But at this point though Webb is hitting a LOT of big shots late in games, and he's got both the confidence and desire to take them. It is what we've been looking for and needing for years. If he keeps it up he'll eventually reach that immune status where you expect them all to go in, and the green light is there no matter how bad the rest of the night has been. Kobe fires up all sorts of garbage, and will just keep on chucking them up even if he's 4-23. But at the end of games you still expect them to make it, no matter how bad the night has been. Closer to home, ditto for Bibby. He could be 3-13 and I still feel good seeing him shoot with less than 2:00 to go. Sooner or later if Webb keeps this up he will reach that same status.

I was at the game last night, and I did hear some say "nooo!"

Honestly, I was thinking to myself "nooo" too because it was a quick shot, and could have used more shot clock to find a better shot, since he was near the 3 pt line, but he nailed it :)

Can you read my mind? That is exactly what I thought too! ;)

Are it could be because of the Kings' defense, steals, solid offense, and Brad Miller's blocks!

The only thing I was thinking, and I actually said it out loud was, "good look." When It went in I screamed my head off. I know people say the groan wasn't that loud in the arena but obviously it was loud enough that C-Webb heard it because he reacted. Has it really come to this? That in a Big game, at home, Chris has to feel like he's on the road? Sad. How many big shots is it gonna take?

I guess the fans somewhat groaned when he made the last shot because Webber did miss 5 consecutives shots before he made that one.

Webber is clutch though!!!

And? If Peja had missed 5 before, no one would have groaned, if Bibby had missed 5 before, still no peep, if Brad had and took that shot, STILL there would have been no murmers. You think it's easy to take and make a shot with the game on the line? Do you think it becomes any easier when your hometown crowd is groaning? Way to help a guy out there!
There is a sub-set of fans now present in ARCO, they appear to wait with positive glee for Chris to do something bad, so they can pounce. A few I have sat next to do not even seem to cheer the rest of the team (although these fans are a sub-set of the sub-set, meaning there are even fewer of this kind), waiting only for the missed shot, or the turnover. Like the guy VF21 and I sat behind, wearing a Bobby Jackson jersey, screaming about Chris being selfish, in a game Webber had 6 or 7 assists. Apparently he grew tired of this, because he left early, perhaps disappointed that the Kings were going to win. He never cheered.
I don't think there are actually all that many of them, a few in each section maybe, but they make themselves heard at times when the Arena is not making as much noise, like after a turnover, or a missed shot, or when the Arena is holding it's collective breath to see if a shot goes in.
Personally, IMO, with less than 2 minutes to go, you shouldn't have been able to hear a smattering of groaning, that place should have been rocking.
