When was the last time Dallas had a lottery pick?

Yet they've managed to rebuild their entire team through free agency.

And they've managed to go up and down and up again while never having to tank a season.

Free agents want to play for a team with a winning attitude. Not for a team that's rebuilding through the draft, waiting for 4-5 years before ever expecting to win.

I don't know about their "last" one, but they got Dirk, and that's the one that counted.

They rebuilt because they are outspending a lot of teams and had Dirk to build around. With Webber gone, who is our "Dirk"? Bibby? Martin? Artest? None come close to a Dirk, Amare, Duncan, Wade, Robinson, etc. And news flash, nobody is going to trade one to us for the pieces we have and no decent draft picks to dangle....

free agents enjoy a winning attitude, but also cash. since, you know, dallas has a 2006-2007 payroll of $92M.

also, our "winning attitude" really doesn't amount to much if we don't actually win.
