Carter gets DNP in 40 pt blowout

Doug played 7 guards in this game, it really just is a numbers game as far as Carter is concerned. I absolutely would play him instead of LaVine but I understand why most coaches would not. Carter is a young player and he's going to make mistakes and then the coach will have to answer for it after the game. It's easier to just bench the guy who hasn't established an expectation of playing than it is to bench a former All Star who is still putting up his numbers.

I've been beating the drum that this team was going to be far worse than many imagined... but christ, even I didn't think they would be this embarrassing. Nothing in the vicinity of chemistry is achievable with the rotations that Christie favors. Just one-dimensional basketball from a bunch of disinterested over-the-hillers who seem to hate playing with each other.

The hillers have eyes

Why even fire him the next coach most likely won’t make it out of a rebuild anyways

Vivek has a pattern:

1) hire coach
2) hire GM
3) try to "win now" with a roster of mismatched wash ups
4) fire coach
5) "let GM" bring in his own coach (as long as they had a position on GS)
6) **** around for a few seasons of futility
7) Fire GM
8) hire coach
9) repeat until he dies or sells the team

Anyways, I hope y'all are ready for Mark Jackson to lead us to the promised land of 11th in the West.

9) repeat until he dies or sells the team --- HA!

Didn’t see this one, thank God. Did Demar give up or is he hurt? Glad to see Keegan back. I’m sure he’ll start once he gets his conditioning and rhythm in order. Nothing to worry about there. No excuse for this apparent lack of effort but I’m sure the Sabonis news was another big blow to morale.

Yikes!

If in fact Christie is really fully in charge of in game decisions and playing time, then he is pitifully ill equipped for this job

I think it's fair to posit that he played the wrong seven.

Well yeah, I would even agree with that. I was just clarifying that leaving Carter out of the rotation is the path of least resistance for a coach who doesn't want to rock the boat. And it's also the most defensible since Carter does not have a track record yet and other than Clifford, the rest of them do. Why not play Carter over Clifford then? Because Clifford was the current GM's pick while Carter was not.

Christie is digging himself a credibility hole here by saying he wants accountability and then not playing one of the few high-energy defenders he's got but he needs wins if he wants to keep his job and I think he's trying to balance the urgency of keeping the owner happy against his better judgement. Either some of these big minute guards ahead of Carter in the rotation need to be traded or Doug needs to call up Vivek and say "look, do you trust me enough to let me try to turn the defense around even if the offense gets worse in the process?" Because if he can't get buy-in on that from ownership/management then he's not going to be long for the job no matter what else happens.

This offense can get worse?!

Doug sounded like they lost by 10 tonight. Even Jerry reynolds said if there was one thing I’d tell Christie, it’s ok to be pissed off when your team loses like this.

He already pulled that card. It was a relative fart in the wind. There's no tricking these players. Now, if getting whipped by kids doesn't get them fired up then nothing will. Even if it does, blah, does it matter?

He's seen it all and this is the worst he has seen to start a season before thanksgiving.

Doug has an air of delusion about him

He did. This franchise has now even broken Doug with the way he sounded in that post game. I'm sure he'll find that positive energy again but dude looked dead inside for most of this game.

He did that after the Hawks game, and look what difference it made. If, by some astronomical improbability, he hasn't lost the team yet, going on a rant after every loss will only hasten that inevitability.

It would be nice if Doug would stand by what he says and bench these vets that don’t pass, don’t play defense, and don’t take care of the ball.

It also would be nice if he would have them run an offense.

Only enjoyable part was watching the young guys play together at the end.

So he mentions Q1 at OKC to avoid commenting on today's performance.
I wonder if they kicked our "behind" like our former coach would say.

All platitudes. No substance. No "Next game, there will be changes. This is unacceptable"

I'm usually big on giving players/coaches time to figure it out, but I just don't see it with Doug. He's in over his head.

For your amusement, select comments from Youtube on Kangz/Griz:

-Damn! What happen to kings😢 veterans vs new kid on the block😅

-Kings got blown out by Grizzlies Rookies and 2nd years.😂😂 Aldama and Landale combined for 50 points.

-Can we please just start the King's bench going forward?

-Kings better trade every asset they have at the deadline. Wholesale, everything must go.

-What exactly happened to kings, losing streak continues.

-Westbrook playing explains why they have this record

-The Sacramento Bulls does it again! (Bonus for engrish)

-Just my opinion this game looks rigged the kings bet money on this game 😂😂😂

-Im gooning

-Why is anyone a kings fan? The kings have quit. They've lost
their last 7 games by at least 13, by 20+ like 4 times. The 13
point loss was against the spurs without Wemby. This team has
totally quit on the coach and maybe even the entire
organization. And their best player is injured.
Nightmare season if you're a kings fan.

-Guys Russ was supposed to make this team an nba playoffs contender! They just needed that one extra push
after losing to the mavs at home!

This roster has nothing to do with Doug’s ability or lack thereof. There isn’t a coach alive that could win with the dreck Monte and Perry served Doug.

Usually you’re pretty level headed and look for the brighter side, I’m surprised you’ve jumped on DC as being bad so quickly. I just cannot put this disaster on him.

I'm not expecting wins, im expecting him to stand for what he's preached to us all off-season and throughout the year. No, the roster is far from perfect, but Doug's made 0 attempt to balance putting any of our defenders on the floor with the vets. Nique and Keon have been delegated to 5 minute stints until the game is over. Carter doesn't play. He's said over and over that the Kings will be a defense/physical franchise and that teams will feel us... so what are we waiting for? Is he even watching tape? What could he possibly be seeing through the first 16 games that the guys on the floor have shown those ideals that is supposed to be Sacramento Kings basketball?

And no, I'm not expecting those guys to be the saviors and them not playing is why we fully suck right now. But the most basic basketball analysis and lineup building is you have to surround your offensive stars with defenders and lower USG role players. Thst not only helps offensive cohesion... but actually might give us a chance to compete on D.

His only default, since he took over as interim HC and now this season, is to play the vets and if that doesn't work, play the vets some more. Offensively, we've taken the ball out of Domas hands and turned the keys to Russ and Dennis. Our offensive sets basically consist if DDR, LaVine, Russ, Dennis taking turns shooting. We've made no effort to involve the young guys in the few minutes they do get on the court. They're out there standing in the corner while the vets go hoist up another shot.

The popular response to my above take is "WELL HE'S NOT MAKING THE LINEUP DECISIONS, PERRY/VIVEK ARE", in which case, none of this really matters. If the HC has no control over who plays and who doesn't, this team won't be ever be good. So until something like that is confirmed, I'm holding Doug accountable for what he actually shows us with his coaching performance.

There's just nothing to be positive about. Like nothing at all. I've enjoyed when Nique/Keon/Maxime play, Precious has had some good moments off the street, but what are we supposed to be excited about? What about Doug's performance this season warrants giving him anymore leash and time?
