Carter gets DNP in 40 pt blowout

Doug played 7 guards in this game, it really just is a numbers game as far as Carter is concerned. I absolutely would play him instead of LaVine but I understand why most coaches would not. Carter is a young player and he's going to make mistakes and then the coach will have to answer for it after the game. It's easier to just bench the guy who hasn't established an expectation of playing than it is to bench a former All Star who is still putting up his numbers.

I've been beating the drum that this team was going to be far worse than many imagined... but christ, even I didn't think they would be this embarrassing. Nothing in the vicinity of chemistry is achievable with the rotations that Christie favors. Just one-dimensional basketball from a bunch of disinterested over-the-hillers who seem to hate playing with each other.

The hillers have eyes

Why even fire him the next coach most likely won’t make it out of a rebuild anyways

Vivek has a pattern:

1) hire coach
2) hire GM
3) try to "win now" with a roster of mismatched wash ups
4) fire coach
5) "let GM" bring in his own coach (as long as they had a position on GS)
6) **** around for a few seasons of futility
7) Fire GM
8) hire coach
9) repeat until he dies or sells the team

Anyways, I hope y'all are ready for Mark Jackson to lead us to the promised land of 11th in the West.

Didn’t see this one, thank God. Did Demar give up or is he hurt? Glad to see Keegan back. I’m sure he’ll start once he gets his conditioning and rhythm in order. Nothing to worry about there. No excuse for this apparent lack of effort but I’m sure the Sabonis news was another big blow to morale.

Yikes!

If in fact Christie is really fully in charge of in game decisions and playing time, then he is pitifully ill equipped for this job

I think it's fair to posit that he played the wrong seven.

Well yeah, I would even agree with that. I was just clarifying that leaving Carter out of the rotation is the path of least resistance for a coach who doesn't want to rock the boat. And it's also the most defensible since Carter does not have a track record yet and other than Clifford, the rest of them do. Why not play Carter over Clifford then? Because Clifford was the current GM's pick while Carter was not.

Christie is digging himself a credibility hole here by saying he wants accountability and then not playing one of the few high-energy defenders he's got but he needs wins if he wants to keep his job and I think he's trying to balance the urgency of keeping the owner happy against his better judgement. Either some of these big minute guards ahead of Carter in the rotation need to be traded or Doug needs to call up Vivek and say "look, do you trust me enough to let me try to turn the defense around even if the offense gets worse in the process?" Because if he can't get buy-in on that from ownership/management then he's not going to be long for the job no matter what else happens.

This offense can get worse?!

Doug sounded like they lost by 10 tonight. Even Jerry reynolds said if there was one thing I’d tell Christie, it’s ok to be pissed off when your team loses like this.

He already pulled that card. It was a relative fart in the wind. There's no tricking these players. Now, if getting whipped by kids doesn't get them fired up then nothing will. Even if it does, blah, does it matter?

He's seen it all and this is the worst he has seen to start a season before thanksgiving.

Doug has an air of delusion about him

He did. This franchise has now even broken Doug with the way he sounded in that post game. I'm sure he'll find that positive energy again but dude looked dead inside for most of this game.

He did that after the Hawks game, and look what difference it made. If, by some astronomical improbability, he hasn't lost the team yet, going on a rant after every loss will only hasten that inevitability.

It would be nice if Doug would stand by what he says and bench these vets that don’t pass, don’t play defense, and don’t take care of the ball.

It also would be nice if he would have them run an offense.

Only enjoyable part was watching the young guys play together at the end.
