Good news is this will be a sellers trade deadline. Get rid of

DDR
Denis
Monk
Sabonis can go now too. Time for a change.

Then we can get a few 1st and start over

I feel the same about Domas.. Not for any other reason than I think he needs to be somewhere around your 3rd best player, with specific archetypes around him and I'm not confident we'll be able to do that quickly or at all

Nique would have to be ROY level (which maybe he is, too bad we haven't really been able to find out), for that to happen, but I'd be pretty confident that unit would actually give a crap on defense.
Not really. I feel like you have to be grossly overrating the Suns and the Timberwolves (and maybe the Bulls?) in order to believe that. Clifford could just be a pretty good rookie, and I think that the team would be at least a win better off of sheer effort.

But basically, my point is that if we just played all the young guys, all the time, I don't think our record would be much different than it is now. Which is pretty sad.
And my point is, even if it wasn't, it would sure feel a lot different.

Fans want Sac media to demand ANSWERS about (1) why aging vets are being given all the minutes, (2) what Ellis did to deserve this treatment, and (3) what support from Vivek Perry needs to execute his vision.

seems like its a showcase year for the vets and hope a team around February takes the bait

The thing is they aren't getting value. Probably not even for Domas at this point. I mean, he'll get something but they just have to accept their fate. They need to start prioritizing development because it's the only thing they can do at this point that they can control themselves. Putting the starters back in was just craziness. Every one of those minutes count for the young guys. 4-5 minutes doesn't even provide enough time to get a sweat going.

It's way early in the season but this isn't too dissimilar feeling to when the Kings would make a panic win now coaching move. If they did do something like that then this is cooked for the long term. Doug is whatever he is, but the Kings need to stop relying on the post coaching change bump too. It's a fallacy. Time to rebuild.

Doesn't really matter to me that it's early, I've seen enough to know that this team isn't serious enough about defense to have any chance at a run to the post season. So what's the point of all this, if not committed to developing anyone?

Well that was 48 plus minutes of my life I’ll never get back.
Doug Christie not playing Keon untill the fourth quarter and terrible rotations.
No energy by this Kings team. Played like they already knew they were beat from the outset.
Schroeder should never play against Minnesota. He is a boy amongst men.
I wonder if Mitch Richmond showed up at halftime and told Precious “ Welcome to Hell”
Sabonis is still hurt. He Needs to get well. Sit him and play Eubanks and Max until he’s good to go. Without a healthy Sabonis we don’t stand a chance.
Lots of posters saying we need to play the young guys. I agree.
Zach being interviewed saying we need to play better defense. He should look in the mirror.

Does he need to look in the mirror if, by saying "we", he is also talking about himself???

agreed, not any value to be had here. perhaps there will be a team willing to throw a second rounder Perry's way for the 26 draft

Both are bad... LaVine is a lot worse. Exponentially worse even.

No one is blaming the owner. Vivek owns a stake in the team, he doesn't own all of it but his stake entitles him to decision-making power. We had a promising team a year ago and then took a sharp turn into being an absolute clown show. Perry, Christie, and Vivek are all responsible in some way for what we're watching right now. The question is, are they as pissed off about this as we are? I'm not sure that any of them are even aware of how bad this team is yet.
I blame Vivek. I’d rather they be good in Seattle than terrible in Sacramento. This isn’t an enjoyable product. At some point, he’s the common denominator to the misery. We can’t acquire players he’s never heard of. He needs to see “names” that he knows and it’s put the team in a losing position. And now we’re old and not much to latch onto.

Giving up 144 points in 4 quarters is absolute insanity. I hope that Doug watches this game on a loop until he Hulks out, smashes up his office, and benches all of the veterans for a game.
After losing by 53 to the Lynx, A'ja Wilson texted all of her teammates and said, "If you weren't embarrassed by that, don't bother coming to work tomorrow." They ran the table the remainder of the regular season and won the championship.

Obviously expecting Sacramento to finish the season 75-7 is reaching a bit high, but the point is, who's going to be the guy in the Kings locker room that's going to raise their own game, while demanding accountability from his teammates?

Yeah, true. This is all Perry in some facet. It has to be showcasing at the very least but showcasing these guys isn't doing jack ****. The league knows who they are considering a few of them have been playing darn near 20 seasons. This team is all offense and there is still a chance they catch fire on that end and start putting up 140 to 144 which on the average puts them in that 9-13 sweet spot in the lottery haha.

no matter how bad it gets, there is no way they can fire doug. that would be a total disaster. no way they would they fire doug to pay 2 fired coaches and a new coach is there?

Nique with 10/6/5 in 23 minutes off the bench. You gotta move off of at least one of Deebo/Zach/Malik to free up more minutes for him.

Perry might even agree with you but Monk can’t be moved, Lavine probably can’t either ( maybe in the off season). That leaves Deebo as the most likely. Right now I’m circling the Bucks and Clips as the team who might be interested in taking him on)

I just get these Goerge Karl flashbacks. I'd say no, but we've seen just random crazy crap from this owner before. Doug Christie signing a 2 year deal basically originally kind of made me feel like a certain GM was setting him up to be the patsy.

A few thoughts….

1. Get used to the reality that this front office is not high on Ellis. No it was not some master plan by Perry with his contract over the summer. He will in fact walk in the offseason or be packaged with one of the high priced vets nobody wants to get off of them.
2. Clifford is fun. At least everybody seems on board with his development.
3. We are not getting anything of great value for Deebo or Lavine at the trade deadline. EVERYONE in the NBA knows what these players are and that they don’t play winning basketball. Please, nobody get their hopes up, the best case scenario is simple addition by subtraction if we can move them without attaching any assets.
4. Same with Domas, which is why I’d rather just keep him if he is happy to be part of a rebuild here.
5. I take back what I previously said about the Precious pickup. A solid pickup.
6. This is a great tank job so far, but don’t get it mixed up. Perry is trying to win.

And one bonus… do we have the worst all around local nba broadcast? I’m not just talking Katie. Is it just me or does it seem like half the time we don’t see replays of consequential calls. Even occasionally coaches challenges happen in the background as someone reads a promo line, then play starts again and there is an afterthought comment saying the team lost the challenge. Or Katie will talk over the action about something, things are happening while the broadcast shows me something random, and then someone is shooting a tech and there is not an explanation. It’s really awful but maybe that’s how all of these local broadcasts are now.

Cheers to that! I don't care who's fault it is, I don't care if we tank or make the play-in at this point. This is the roster we're stuck with for better or worse. Just show some pride and actually compete on defense, especially on your home court!

It would be Perry’s guy Mike Woodson. Probably a minor salary bump to take over, but he’s not doing anything to save this team.

There’s a better chance of him ditching the smelling salts routine than doing anything more than making generic, meaningless statements like how we need to ramp up the intensity, communicate or some other nonsense.
