Giannis fouls Domas hard, no call
Take a look at the numbers I posted the other day.I feel like it's hard to make the case that they've been doing "exceedingly" well with Monk.
Among the eight Kings who have appeared in at least four of the five games--still a small statistical sample--Schröder is -13.9 per 36 minutes, worst on the team; Monk is +8.3, second behind Eubanks at +12.0. His net...Schroder is comically bad. I still can't believe Perry courted him like he was the prom queen. What on earth was he thinking and why did we give him a raise? He was already cooked before he got here.
Monk has been awesome this year and he was really good on both sides of the floor tonight. Carter also played good defense but his offense has yet to be found.
This is usually when the other team makes an adjustment and the Kings just fall apart. I’m expecting them to try to make someone other than DeRozan or LaVine score. This should be interesting. Rivers kind of paced out his rotation whereas Christie really rode DeMar in that half.
He had some impressive close outs/contests on a few 3sKings closed a lot of that gap with Nique out there not necessarily because the kid was doing anything good but simply because he’s a strong wing-sized defender who doesn’t demand the ball every single possession.

I promised hrdboild that I would watch Zach LaVine "every second" in the next game. Here is my report on the pluses and minuses of his play in the first half:
1) He has 18 points, shooting 5-8 from the field and 3-5 from deep, with 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 0 turnovers.
2) I did not see him dog on defense on a single play, but he only played 94 feet on one play, no doubt on coach's instructions. He missed three close-outs on three-point shots, all good, by being a little bit late and not getting a hand in the shooter's face. A little greater court awareness would lead to faster reaction times. Giannis beat him off the dribble and also blew by him on the fast break.
3) He does not set screens, a general failing by this year's edition of the Kings. But you would expect more from a veteran.
4) LaVine was the only King to score in the first 3 1/2 minutes of the game. He also hit a clutch three at the end of the half to tie the game.

That is a very micro-view way of looking at things. I will stipulate that it is true for whatever that's worth (which isn't a ton, in my Personal Record Book™). My overall point is that no team that is 1-4 is doing anything exceedingly well.Take a look at the numbers I posted the other day.

Why has Keon only played eight minutes?
