The Kings have 16 games in November. How many will they win?

This is a big part of what it is unfortunately. This is a business at the end of the day and if the Kings bottom out so will attendance and season tickets, that means no revenue generated from parking, food/drink and merchandise. TV ratings would also take a hit. And it’s not all on Vivek, there are minority owners and investors that have a say in all this.

Are loosing teams not making a profit?

We don’t win this game without Nique fwiw

That’s good to hear I didn’t watch the game just looked at the box score and saw his minutes and shot attempts. As well as DNP for ur lottery pick in his second season, Ellis two shots 16 minutes what does that look like like when Keegan is back. People really think he stays here just because his agent got Schroeder paid when he’s playing 16-20mpg

There's also the possibility that our front office looks at those big numbers and concludes that we need to re-up all of these guys. I like sleeping at night though so I'll assume/pretend that there's no chance of that.

And hey, how 'bout them Sharks right? Two wins in a row counts as a win streak.
Even worse, they look at all the big stats and think we are just a piece or two away from contention. If we end up doing nothing at the trade deadline and let this thing play out until the off season, fine. But if we are buyers at the trade deadline I will not know what to think.

With all that said, I had fun watching the game on replay last night. Of course I already knew what had won so makes things easier. Funny now reading the first couple pages of this game thread after that terrible start.

Kings fans who want rebuilding around the youngins are in somewhat of a dilemma. There are so many cross currents - minutes give to vets to enhance trade value, but minutes given to youngins improves their development. Winning may enhance the vets's trade value, but yields fewer ping pong balls in a strong draft year; winning may also demotivate management to rebuild sooner rather than later. All these factors compete with each other and make it difficult to find exactly what one should be rooting for at any given time, especially because when we don't know what management and ownership are thinking about the situation.
Perfect description of purgatory

Except we aren't incorporating the youth at all, which is the problem. They're playing minor/inconsistent roles and when they do get in the game, they're looked off the entire time.

How does Carter develop with a DNP after playing the last 2 games? Cardwell starts, but doesn't play the rest of the game? Same with Maxime? Nique and Keon get 15 minutes each and 3 total shot attempts. IJ played a minute vs OKC and has gotten benched since for no real apparent reason.

Theres just no effort to see what these guys are. To me, thats a massive problem when our FO self proclaimed this season as a gap year.
You aren't wrong, I'm just saying I don't think it's a big deal at this very moment because I have a feeling these guys will get plenty of time by the time we get to January or February. Nique just got back from a hamstring injury after Doug literally started him in game 1 so I wouldn't jump to conclusions there. Fortunately or unfortunately (depending on your views) we keep losing two starters to random injury and ailments, so there should be plenty of time to go around. I definitely don't want DeMar to be playing 40 minutes a night, trust me I'm with you there.

It appears that Coach Christie is dedicated to a "win at all costs" outlook. It is understandable since his job, and future jobs in basketball, heavily will be predicated on his record. He believes that the best chance of winning now is with the vets.

He is probably not wrong in the short term. But it is not realistic for him to endure defeats for the sake of developing players for the long run. He may not have a long run unless he proves his ability to produce wins. It is an unenviable dilemma.

He is doing what he thinks is best for his career and the young players must prove themselves winners before he takes a chance that they may unwittingly drive him out of the profession. Thus, the youngsters will appear in small doses before they earn the opportunity to be a big part of the attempt to produce wins.

That said, there is little left for Keon to prove and yet he sits a great deal.

I will say, Keon isn’t always so great when he does check in. I love the guy but we can’t act as if he’s flawless whenever he’s out there. However, 15 minutes will never be enough for him. I do wish there was a lot more consistency when it comes to him and I’m curious to see what adjustments are made when Keegan returns. Some sort of trade needs to happen no matter what, just to balance this thing out.
