I mean, I'm not shy about saying I hate this win. 🤷

DeRozan - 41 mins
LaVine - 39 mins
Schroder - 37 mins
Westbrook - 34 mins

Ellis - 16 mins
Clifford - 16 mins
Carter - DNP

Nique is coming back from injury, so his minutes restriction is justifiable. But the Kings rode their not-long-for-this-team set of vets for heavy minutes just to eke out a 2 point road win after putting 135 on the board. It's just... the antithesis of what I believe this season should be.

If the Kings manage wins while getting their younger players on the court for heavy minutes, then so be it. But I can't countenance this desperately sweaty short-term thinking.

I'm probably going to be the type that's yucking everybody's yum after these kinds of games, but I just can't care about wins earned on the backs of guys who the organization should be actively looking to move within the next year.

Well if nothing else, they are putting up some monster stats. All it takes is one owner or GM to convince themselves that one of our guys is a missing piece and we're in business. 19 of 30 first round draft picks changed hands in this year's draft and 13 of them have already been traded for next year's draft (Sam Presti in OKC owns four of them). This feels like a year that teams will try to hang onto their picks but future picks are getting tossed around like hot potatoes lately.

Add in Cardwell "starting" but never seeing another rotation the rest of the game and same deal with Maxime.

I like seeing the Kings play well and win games, but I have a similar "what's the damn point?" mindset with this squad when we win how we did tongith. Last year wasn't a ton of fun, but the previous 2 years were an absolute blast because it felt like the team was building something for the long-term that you could see develop game after game. This feels like we're going 100% all-in on THIS season to try and win games without any view towards what the next 3 years look like.

Russ will be 39
DDR will be 39
Schroder will be 36
Lavine will be 33
Domas will be 32

And today's win was all on the backs of pushing these guys to their minutes limits with everything flowing through them offensively. Nique took 1 shot in 15 minutes. Keon 2. Cardwell 1. Maxime 1. Carter 0 because he didn't play after being in the rotation the last 2 games. So even the limited time these guys get on the floor, they're just getting looked off the entire time.

I hate being a party pooper too, as I'm largely a pretty optimistic Kings fan in my time posting on this board. But my god, it's frustrating just seeing how this season is playing out and how just utterly short-term thinking we're being in pursuit of maybe being a play-in squad.

The Bucks were so frustrated in this game because the last thing they anticipated was a close contest; hence the win by the Kings. The Kings played a smart game. The Bucks, led by Bug Eyes, not so smart. It was Bug Eyes' technical that mucked up the game for his own team, not the Kings. With even less rhythm the Bucks were polar ice cap cold from the three, allowing the Kings to win.

I was happy Clifford and Max got some time in this game. But I was very unhappy the vets froze out Max when he was at the 3 point line being totally unguarded. It was weak by Christie allowing it to occur. If you have young guy who can hit 3s out on the floor the message better be heard loud and clear that coach doesn't want to see selfishness from his vets hogging the ball at the expense of the rook, which is exactly what happened.

Looks to me like Christie is allowing Lavine, Westbrook, and DeRozan to do whatever they want. They make all the major in game decisions, which is mostly plays amongst themselves

I was rather surprised in listening to a before-game interview this past week, when Coach Christie said that he preferred not to call offensive plays during the game, but to let the players make decisions based on the situation. In other words, he is biased in favor of improvisation and fluidity.

You make a good point that, if only three or four guys are in control of the ball, he or his offensive coach has to call plays for the young guns or they will get shut out.

There's also the possibility that our front office looks at those big numbers and concludes that we need to re-up all of these guys. I like sleeping at night though so I'll assume/pretend that there's no chance of that.

And hey, how 'bout them Sharks right? Two wins in a row counts as a win streak.

Absolutely. I think his time spent with Jokic really helps the squad, especially with his understanding of how important it is to not only feed the big, but keep him involved. There was a play early on in the game where Sabonis and Russ found each other and Westbrook got the easy basket he was initially trying to set up for Domas, after drawing the attention of the defense. Those little things add up to W’s more often than not.
That time spent with Jokic is also going to be incredibly valuable when game planning for Denver.

Man, I agree with everything you said here and appreciate the spirit in which you said it.... AND I'm excited about tonight's big win. I think our fan psyche needs gutsy wins now and then, and lacking any control over the situation I'm just going to enjoy it. I would also get excited about giving the major minutes to the youngsters and watching them cook. Hopefully I'll get to do a lot of both by the end of the season.

I'm going to go with 0 here not necessarily because I think we will end up going winless in November, but because, even if we do, I won't be too disappointed, and even if we only win 1 game, I won't be too disappointed.

Just don't want to make a prediction that is not met, and feel a sense of disappointment as a result...:p:p:p
If you ask me, November's already off to a good start!!! :p:p:p

Two days off was likely what the doctor ordered as well. Guys in and out of the lineup and different lineups (due to injury) each night can’t be easy to deal with, especially when many of these guys have never played together. People don’t like excuses but that’s just a fact and I’m glad they don’t have to be in Denver on another 2nd night of a back to back.

Btw, i understand folks wanting this big youth movement to take place but we literally just began the month of November. It’s not as if Scott Perry just announced this is the team for the foreseeable future and we’re building around DeMar. I really don’t see the big deal in getting W’s right now as the young guys get some burn here and there. This isn’t going to be our roster forever and young guys don’t always have to learn how to win by playing 35 minutes a night. There’s no one way to develop. Charlotte has been trotting out the same young lineup for idk how long now and they’re still garbage, led by Mr. Immature Lamelo.

Except we aren't incorporating the youth at all, which is the problem. They're playing minor/inconsistent roles and when they do get in the game, they're looked off the entire time.

How does Carter develop with a DNP after playing the last 2 games? Cardwell starts, but doesn't play the rest of the game? Same with Maxime? Nique and Keon get 15 minutes each and 3 total shot attempts. IJ played a minute vs OKC and has gotten benched since for no real apparent reason.

Theres just no effort to see what these guys are. To me, thats a massive problem when our FO self proclaimed this season as a gap year.

Out of curiosity: what is it that you believe we can get in return for each one of them in a trade by the deadline?
No clue. But hopefully there will be teams that are on the cusp of being successful that are looking to add just one more scoring piece and see an older vet we have available at a decent price....

As someone else said - it takes two to tango. I think we have been trying but the market just wasn't there this summer.

There is also a scenario where the Kings come together and play .500+ ball up to the deadline. Vivek sees this as a chance to make the play-offs or play-in and tells Perry to stay the course with the current roster. This is especially likely if stadium seats are being filled.

The way to instigate roster movement is to cost Vivek money. Low attendance just might do that. And losing consistently would be the flash point to keep many fans away. Not hoping for losses but change is less likely to happen with a winner.

My guess is that the 💰 effect you point out of losing consistently is one of the biggest barriers to a full-on youth movement.

I’m doing my part. Shared season tickets last year and not attending a game this year. Will take my wife to the theater instead. I see no point in paying to see a team of 35 plus old vets push for another run at the Vivek Invitational.

This is a big part of what it is unfortunately. This is a business at the end of the day and if the Kings bottom out so will attendance and season tickets, that means no revenue generated from parking, food/drink and merchandise. TV ratings would also take a hit. And it’s not all on Vivek, there are minority owners and investors that have a say in all this.

They may bottom out regardless but I agree Kings fans and media are part of what prevents doing a full rebuild. This town perhaps gets the team it deserves.

Kings fans who want rebuilding around the youngins are in somewhat of a dilemma. There are so many cross currents - minutes give to vets to enhance trade value, but minutes given to youngins improves their development. Winning may enhance the vets's trade value, but yields fewer ping pong balls in a strong draft year; winning may also demotivate management to rebuild sooner rather than later. All these factors compete with each other and make it difficult to find exactly what one should be rooting for at any given time, especially because when we don't know what management and ownership are thinking about the situation.

Preach!! Would be different if we won because Carter, Nique, and Ellis went off not the guys that wont be here next year and journeyman Schroeder

These wins would mean more if they came vs the lakers
