Is this the best round 1 playoff series?

Not to be a homer, but I say why not? The first game established the Spurs as the favorite, but I think last night showed that this Kings team is more than an "anything can happen" sort of underdog (i.e., Chicago). Sac is playing better than an 8-seed, and San Antonio actually looks vulnerable...

    can you say PAYBACK?

I think that is b/c of homecourt. In San Antonio I could definitely see that as a foul.

    Grades v. Spurs 04/28

Wow, LOL, that reminds me of the guy who wrote in to ESPN complaining that the footage of the high school student with autism making three-pointers didn't include his airballs! I enjoy reading the game-by-game grades, but man, let's cut K-Mart, a guy who saves the season with a clutch play, a...

    Grades v. Spurs 04/28

Definitely. Statistics, percentages...yeah, it's important, but he made the right decision to pass after a great physical play to strip Ginobli (whom I was pleased to see tonight didn't have the officials in the palm of his hand). This coming with Bibby playing the full 48 mins. Not just b/c...

    Officiating

The thing with bball is that there is not much for setting precedence. Officiating varies from game to game, and the best that can be hoped for is consistency within a single game. Personally I think if Jordan (though he may be the exception to the rule, being the greatest player) got away...

    Officiating

Not trying to say the game is rigged or that officials get together to say "Let's help this team tonight," but so much movement and motion happens in basketball that maybe the refs give the better team the benefit of the doubt in a questionable contact situation (a charge, for example).

    Officiating

In my own humble opinion, I think refs should lay off a little. That Clips/Nuggets game last night was like a football game--a whistle after every play (so it seemed). Football and hardwood don't mix IMO. There was zero rhythm. The stars get the calls in every sport, but thus far in the...

    Officiating

Just out of curiousity, what does everyone think of the officiating thus far in the playoffs? Good, bad, ugly?

    Manu sure can fake it

What's more irritating to me than flops is the logic-defying lack of traveling violations called on Ginobli and Parker. The announcers are always astonished at how Manu can split defenders and how Parker gets underneath the big men for so many paint points--well it's b/c Ginobli takes three...

Kings @ Spurs Game Thread (Game 2)

Good game, sucks that Kings lost, but one thing I can say about the game tonight is that the NBA needs to reduce the number of timeouts teams get in OT. This 5 min extra period is bordering 45 real minutes.

Anybody else attending John Hancock's Champions on Ice? It's a good thing they advertise every game so I can plan the next six months of my life accordingly.

    BSPN reaches a new low

Exactly. I'd like to say "Yeah, who cares about the pub, let's just do our thing and win no matter what anyone thinks." But d@mmit, I just want to see my team get props on TV, haha

    BSPN reaches a new low

Wow, yeah. I guess then we could review just about every LA game and make calculations as to how many points should be revoked for Kobe's uncalled travelling violations. He didn't get the breaks last night. Tough shiz, I say.

    BSPN reaches a new low

I completely agree. I'm an ESPN addict b/c it's all sports, but they play to the big markets, big-time. In the last six years, there has been one World Series win b/w Boston and NYY. That's one season out of 12 between the two of them (8.30 winning %). Contrast that to the coverage they...

    Grades v. Lakers 03/14

A+ around the board for the team, and I'd say the fans too. The energy level looked out of control, which of course adds fuel to the fire.

    Grades v. Lakers 03/14

This team is just on fire now. They have umpteen turnovers and still blow out the Lakers. Maybe on NBA Fastbreak in a few minutes here they'll actually say a word or two about the Kings for once!

    NBA Power Ranking (3-13-06)

I agree. As in any sport, the hottest teams at the end of the season have the advantage versus loaded rosters. Ask the Yankees over the last six or so years.
