It sounded like the Kings kicked around ideas about how to move salary elsewhere and there were no takers. Then the Schroder thing was somehow the real optios to make a sign and trade work with Kuminga, etc. Once the Kings signed Schroder I think it was clear the Kings were pretty much out of...
I would imagine part of the idea is that Kuminga is a core piece of the "next" phase, which would obviously be post Domas if things didn't hit the ground running. The other issue is then the length of Kumingas contract could actually hurt the Kings because if he comes out to be an All star level...
The Warriors could probably dump the last year in a deal if need be. Definitely want to have those options in 2027. This has all the makings of a perfect DeMar for Kuminga swap at the deadline.
Or the Kings are floating promises they don't intend on keeping like usual, lol. Vlades MO as a GM was to clearly oversell and players ended up angry. Same thing for Monte to an extent. Yeah, this certainly feels like Kuminga's agent is doing what he can to get Kuminga out but this sure feels...
I think Kuminga is a worthy gamble as long as it doesn't take a true star package which is usually youth and that pick. I think if the Kings ended up giving a late lottery pick to mid first rounder that's fine, hamstringing consecutive picks in the probable window of when the team is actually in...
If they want an unprotected pick then that better be this next draft, not freaking 2030. That could end up in DISASTER when combined with the Spurs swap. Like Isiah Thomas Knicks level where a team just kind of floats around waiting for the garbage to be flushed away.
I think the Warriors are kind of playing their hand here, if they are dead set on a team option in the 3rd year that definitely means they are on a two year plan and want cap space for 2027. That might explain their non interest in Monk since it's unlikely at this point he opts out of his final...
If he shoots sub 10 shots a game he will. Schroder scoring isn't a shock. On the teams he was able to be a primary option he's put up near 20 a game plenty of times over the years. On the Nets recently he was doing his thing too. The issue here is where are the shots coming from?
According to reports pretty much every Kings contract that is near the top of the cap sheet is of the undesirable level. Just history repeating anyway. 6th men making more than MLE money is beyond an acquired taste. Almost never fails.
