One more thing, sorry. I've been posting here since I was a caller. Brick said something the other day about how because I am who I am blah blah carries a certain weight blah. Malarkey. I'm a fan just like anyone and I'm as full of garbage as the next guy. I'm not paid by the Kings and if they do something I think is stupid I will yell and scream as well.

I "embrace debate", in fact, I seek it out. Constantly. And if you disagree with me or anyone else I don't think you're less of a fan. That's BS. I don't ask for not require special quarter. I resent it. If you agree with me fine, if not, great. But grassroots stuff and RV trips and blah blah are all in the past and I've been thanked enough for 100 lifetimes and I am honored and humbled.

But now it's back to being all one dysfunctional family. I just want to pop on and debate like all of you when I can. If I need to change my screen name so be it.

My opinion continues to be that these guys deserve our trust and faith.
Do your remeber Carl as a king??? Kinda like bringing back Hasan Whiteside.

I'll "contribute", not that it ever gets anywhere. I know I should lurk, but I can't help it.

Again, as I said on twitter- if you told me May 1 that we could keep the team and get a new arena, but we had to go 0-82 this year and BBQ Slamson, I would grab a knife and some Kingsford.

And yes, I know the knee jerk e-reaction is "don't question my thanks to Vivek, it's a message board, it's my opinion, etc". I get it. And you're totally correct.

So far, we have Evans gone and Landry and Vasquez. Cool. Are we done? I don't know. Do you? Sure it's cool not to like the move. That's cool and the gang man. But it's laughable to see some saying "Same old Kings, going nowhere, PDA sucks, etc. This is what happens when you play too much fantasy basketball.

The dude JUST STARTED. Like 5 minutes ago it seems. Not only does he have to build, he has to undo a lot of wrongs. Sure we have too many power forwards. Maybe there's a trade coming. Maybe he got Landry to help change the culture. Maybe DMC trust and listens to Landry. Hell, I don't know. All I'm saying, in MY OPINION, is maybe glow in the fact that we are currently playing with house money (keeping the team), and let these guys have a shot. Maybe let these guys not pay the price for previous ineptitude.

I seem to recall a retirement ceremony for Chris Mullin at Oracle. The fans booed Joe Lacob off the floor basically because they were pissed at Chris Cohan. Lacob and Rick Barry pleaded for patience. They got booed.

I wonder if every fan that booed has sent a heartfelt and handwritten apology to Lacob. Ill bet not. Because, of course, the Internet is a place where you can anonymously throw stones, and have no accountability down the line. And that's ok too. But let's at least recognize that.

Then again, I'm a better cheerleader than a basketball mind. So I'm probably wrong.
Good job, Dave! Pretty much how I feel about all of this.

Ok i will say this... Carl Landry is an absolutely solid character, hard working vet dude. something that we desperately need in the locker room and on this team. He can play and this SCREAMS POTENTIAL TRADE happening soon. upon hearing this news i laughed. makes no sense unless you have another big being part of a TRADE package with one of our many chucker guards
Okay, I found something to say... I have to admit things are drastically changing when sactownfan talks me off the ledge.

Please let there be method in all the madness.

We are grateful for everything Vivek has done. Disagreeing with the decision made about Tyreke and the one made about Landry doesn't change that. If you told me we had to lose every one of our players and start over like an expansion team, I would still do it rather than losing the team completely. These are two completely separate issues. Hell yes I'm glad we still have a team! But it's upsetting to me personally that everything I have to say about the game of basketball is somehow not valid to somebody else because Vivek saved us and we should be so grateful that we never question anything he does ever again. Nobody here is mad at Vivek. We're trying to have a discussion on the merits of letting Tyreke walk or paying Landry $26 million to play for us for the next four years and people keep interjecting with "shutup and thank Vivek" as if that's any kind of a counter-argument to the basketball related criticisms that we've made. I will freely acknowledge that we don't know what the entire results of this off-season are going to be yet. And I will withhold judgement on Pete's tenure until he's had a chance to do his job fully. But on these two deals, I don't like them. We are all here on this website because we like to discuss the game of basketball. That's it. Am I still going to drive 400 miles next season to come and see the Kings play without Tyreke? You bet I am. Cause I'm a Kings fan. I would have been happier to see him in a Kings uniform next season helping us win games, but that doesn't make me less of a Kings fan.

I got ran off the board a while back for desiring Balmer/Hansen to take over the team. I understand the flame I got. But this offseasin has been killing me so I want to chime in. Is the letting go of Tyreke a franchise crippling move? Not necessarily. Is signing Landry a franchise crippling move? Not necessarily.

However, the moves feel like a sign of things to go. You let go of a great talent and overpay a guy that already failed on the kings, addressing NONE of the needs the team has. And not only overpaying him, but doing so for FOUR years. I think you can understand the frustration from many fans who are seeing more of the same moves. Cost cutting on talent and then overpaying mediocre players. Letting Tyreke, many (including mine) fans favorite player hurt enough. A guy who had his whole heart here. Who just wanted a freaking offer. This just pours salt on the wound.

Long story short. For people wondering why everyone is upset about the Landry move. Landry is the salt. By itself it's just bitter. But it hurts more when they toss it in the wound.

Fair enough. If required, I'm sure all of us would have gutted the team to keep it here. But, of course, we kept the team and it wasn't required to gut it. We don't have to do post-hoc penance. So I think it's totally fair to address moves for their own merits and not have to compare them to the Seattle Supersonics alternative.

And yes, I know the knee jerk e-reaction is "don't question my thanks to Vivek..."
That wasn't a knee-jerk defense. That only came up after someone explicitly did call our thanks into question. It was kind of shocking, really. I wasn't really expecting that sort of ad hominem.

So far, we have Evans gone and Landry and Vasquez. Cool. Are we done? I don't know. Do you? Sure it's cool not to like the move. That's cool and the gang man.
Great. I think it's perfectly fine to debate the moves. But let's not get into disparaging people who view the moves differently, and implying that they're ungrateful, and implying that they feel untitled. Let's debate it on the level without getting into personal attacks.

How did we manage this? Cap space and a lottery pick, yet were worse off then we were pre draft. Still waiting on that commitment to defense. Maybe that was silly considering the source of are owner and GM.

To be fair were a long way from training camp. Can't right this off as a complete disaster just yet.

Carmichael Dave, pee off. People come here to discuss the direction this team is headed, especially when they don't like the direction. Sorry that doesn't fit with your unbridled enthusiasm for all things Kings. It's bull**** for you to start a narrative that people unhappy with personnel move are somehow ungrateful fans. You're about to have your own forum again, have your circle jerk there.

i love the idea that we gave pete just 5 minutes...u guys do realize we sign carl landry for 4 years right??
I am not a fan of this move but I will judge it ONLY after I see our final roster. However, lets not act like we just signed a benchwarmer from the Ukrainian basketball league.

What frustrates me is fans are already throwing this team under the bus, without seeing it on the floor for a single NBA minute. And we're not even done. We're breaking up one of the worst teams of the last 6 years; there's going to be changes with new leadership. You don't have to like the moves, but NO one should be throwing this team under the bus as many have done the last few days.

Landry and Vasquez are both EXCELLENT role playing talents. They will help this team in many areas we've struggled with since the decline of the glory day teams. Let's see what else we do this off-season

It is getting harder and harder not to post bannable stuff here about the front office.
We have GV, Laundry and 3 mil to show for Reke, waiting to see that very hidden checkmate move FO is preparing.
Most of the time what looks like a bad move in chess is exactly that, bad move.
Hope to be proven wrong.

Who am I ripping? Why can't I? How is it "unfair"??

I'm right here. Would you rather me separate myself from "the masses" and stick behind the microphone? I'm the same guy/girl you are. As full of poo as anyone. My higher standard is to talk kings with anyone anywhere. This is the type of heavy breathing hysterics I'm talking about.
Well, as I pointed out in a previous comment, you were encouraging people who were taking the ad hominem approach by "10/10"ing it. As far as ripping people goes, well I think here you've been on the level but it does appear that you tweeted this, which does look like "ripping" to me:

Carmichael Dave ‏@CarmichaelDave
Dear @vivek:

Thank you for saving us from the brink of extinction. Now please build a champion in 5 days EXACTLY AS WE SAY.

-Kings Fans
And as far as "unfair" goes, I think the accusation that I and people who feel like me are ungrateful to Vivek is quite unfair because it is not only untrue but absurd and only stands as a convenient attack rather than a true debating point.

At any rate, somebody above (whether rightly or wrongly) was of the opinion that you might be ramping up to put forward the "ungrateful" argument on your radio show next week. I hope you don't. I hope you recognize that it's not a reasonable representation of the feelings of those who aren't happy with the moves.

You're missing my point. My response was regarding personal attacks towards posters, which are coming more from the defend the moves crowd.

Of course, as soon as I say that the gates open.

Either way, lets all try to be civil to each other
See above post. You don't have to like the moves. But we (as a collective fan base) should wait and see the product we put on the floor before jumping off a cliff cursing PDA.

Anyway, I concur. After all, we all want the same thing; Kings Wins.

I don't quite get this signing in terms of what the ownership sees in Carl that makes them think he will improve our play on the court. I don't quite get this signing from a financial point of view either. I do get this signing from a we are going to be aggressive during free agency point of view. And, I for one, am loving this aggressiveness. While most of the moves we will not agree with, at least we can admit that PDA and company are being aggressive, and that is exactly what they said they were gonna do.

I've said this before, and I will say it again. I am willing to give this new ownership and front office some time to figure things out. I am not ready to call for their heads just yet.

With that being said, I have a good feeling that things will be getting better. I really do.

Carl Landry: "I'm excited to be the first player in this new era to sign. It’s already different. You can tell."
Acquiring talent and filling up cap space without addressing needs defensively or at SF?

Only change is the names of those involved, not the actual actions of those people themselves.

Landry should be the starter he's easily better than both PPatt and JT meaning if we can trade for a SF we have upgraded PG, PF while getting a elite talent at SG and the C spot staying the same.

Again, this will get lost in the shuffle but curious what people think about this: statistically, at least, Landry was better than JT last year. So, I'll take a cheaper upgrade, even if not a position of need, and reshuffle some of the remaining assets to address the problem positions.
Brought this up as well. Landry is an easy upgrade over JT and Ppat. Who knows? Maybe we have deals lined up for them, (or close to being lined u), and we brought in Landry as their replacement?
