Who is available as 6th-7th pick

So your saying that Duncan owing his success to Parker isn't taking anything away from him? Right! Try again! Duncan is a HOF player, and its doubtful that Parker gets a sniff of the HOF. To use Stockton as a sounding board is insulting to Stockton. Stockton is the all time leader in assists with 15,806 assists in his career. Parker isn't even in the top 30, with his 5,247 assists. The fact is, no one player wins a championship by himself. It takes a team. If you want to say that perhaps the Spurs wouldn't have won one, or perhaps two of their championships without Parker, its possible. But it can't be proven anymore that I can say there are no elephants in my livingroom because I use elephant spray.

One thing I can guarantee you, the Spurs definitely wouldn't have won those championships without Duncan.
Would Stockton have all those assists without Malone? They were quite a big man / guard combo. And that is my point. Those combinations tend to lead to sustained success.

I think he was implying we have the Duncan part in Cuz so we need the Parker not the Leonard.

is it weird that I think he comes across as more eloquent in his English interviews than he does when speaking German?

Always a world of smokescreens as we near the draft, but all of the chatter about Schroeder's visits so far has been that he's been unimpressive. The latest talk was that he was outplayed by Phil Pressey when they matched up in workouts.

I don't know how you can not be impressed with him. He looks like an underrated scorer. We'll be lucky if he lasts til 7.

remember that this is all against significantly inferior competition. nothing against the Bundesliga, it's getting better every year and actually had two teams getting to the Euroleague top16 this year, but just the fact that this seems like an accomplishment should give you pause. especially considering that Bamberg didn't manage a single win in that round and Berlin only beat Bamberg and managed a couple of wins vs. Kaunas and Malaga when it didn't matter anymore. all the stuff he does looks pretty nice in that setting, but I'm kinda worried how well it will translate against NBA calibre players.

Level of competition is a big concern for me with Schroeder. If you watch him attacking the basket he's not getting huge separation from defenders and he's just barely finishing ahead/over their arms. Does he get those shots off in the NBA? And his shooting off the dribble is a big concern but I think the biggest one is his turnover rate, especially given who he was playing against. He looks to have a lot of the same strengths/limitations as Rubio other than Schroeder's better set shooting and Rubio's higher level court vision. But again, Rubio was tested against opponents that were easily on par with Div I players whereas Schroeder's opposition was closer to Div II players.

I don't like Porter. He's the position we need, but still a "Jack-of-all-trades" type, and doesn't do anything brilliantly... Maybe it's just me, but I have an issue with those players. They have huge bust potential, simply because the coaching staff rarely knows where to start with them.

Example: MCW - Issue is, can't shoot. That's easily coachable. Noel - Same thing. Anthony Bennett - No defense, so spend time working on that. Porter - He's 'okay' at everything, so they expect him to be 'okay' making the jump to the NBA. Same with Cody Zeller... Someone before said he's just 'that guy', and I'm probably being paranoid, but that's all I see when I read/watch Porter.
I like the Tayshaun Prince comparison for Porter... defensive wing would pair perfectly with Tyreke/Jimmer imo. Tyreke/Porter should make up for Jimmer's lack of defense and on offense Tyreke was at his best when paired with Beno who Jimmer resembles a bit on offense.

I liked a lot of what I saw with Schroeder, but I don't see anything in his game that you can't get off the scrap heap, ala Patrick Beverly.

When he's successful, he's really ball dominant and that just doesn't jive with Tyreke's game. I do like he shoots a high % on spot ups, but he seems to struggle shooting off the dribble. He's going to have to learn how to finish in the NBA too. He looks good defensively with nice on the ball pressure and instincts.

He's worth the risk after the lotto, but not at #7 imo, especially with guys like Burke, McCollum, and MCW on the board.

Here's the Gobert interview after his workout yesterday with the Kings:

Not sure if they're doing it this year, but I really hope they put together clips of the workouts like they have done in previous years. Always been very interesting.

Hall of Famer
After watching the Heat lock up all the Indiana's small players, I'm open to making Tyreke the primary ball handler once again.
Miami doesn't do well against quick backcourt guys, whether they are small or not. The Pacers don't have quick guards who can break down the defense.

It's a shame Tony Mitchell didn't improve in his second year. He could have been an ideal fit next to Cousins. If we had another late first rounder I might take a chance on him. Defends, blocks shots, strong and freak athlete, won't demand shots. Slightly undersized for PF however, but as a guy to take a flyer on, he could pay dividends next to Cuz.

Yeah, agreed. I like him as an added depth pick late in the first despite his poor performance this season. If the rumored IT to Cleveland for the #19 pick is true, he could be one of the targets. Provided we don't try to package the picks and move up anyway. There's also the Dallas pick which is maybe available. Or it's conceivable Atlanta tries to package one of their picks to free up some cap space for Chris Paul and/or Dwight Howard.

It'd all be so easy if Burke just fell to us.
Why? He can shoot some, but in college he became dominating ball-handler like Nash or Paul, so he doesn't mesh that well with both Boogie and Tyreke. If you let Tyreke go, Burke is an option, but then again every scout is sure you won't get 1st or 2 nd option out of this draft.

Yes, in college, his role will be at least slightly different in the NBA, most college players have to make adjustments like that. He does a lot of things Evans can't do, if Evans (as a SG) can't play off a normal PG like Burke, who can shoot, then the problem is really with him, because he's no Wade/Kobe and never will be.

Burke is not THAT GOOD to be playing off of him. All he did in college was running P&R surrounded by excellent shooting. I don't see where Evans fits in this scheme, unless you want to put him in the corner to spot for 3s.

True. That's one of the question regarding Burke - he was very ball dominant, to the point of over dribbling at times, and seems to prefer teammates who can space the floor so it opens up the lane for him.

I'm not sold on Burke, but at the same time I do concede that he is the best PG in this draft and that he does have the potential to be very good if he continues to improve.

Augustin is slow. Not good when you're both slow and small.
really? can't claim that I've watched many Bobcats games in the last few years, but he's never struck me as slow. his combine results (whatever they're worth) are pretty decent. as far as I could tell, his problem was more that he was too small to look over, let alone pass over the traps and that he was a substandard ballhandler to boot.

i just dont think Burke fits with us if we're serious about defense. Hes small and a liability on that end. Im all for him if hes available however it will be interesting given our focus on D if Malone sactions us bringing him in. Oladipo is the obvious better fit, moving reke to SG
