Such a Sad day....

Im still not buying the hype. As a matter of fact im not even surprised. This was a likely situation all along. After ALL parties have had their say its going to cost the Seattle group WAYYY too much money to beat the local buyer. I like Sacramento's odds.

Didn't the city of Sacramento also vote against public money being spent on a new arena, at least once, or do I have that wrong? And, again, even stipulating that you're right, if the fans in Seattle voted against financing an arena, and then an ownership group pops up in Seattle, and says, "It's cool, we'll spring for the arena," why should Seattle be compelled to say, "Nah, that's okay"?
The short answer to your question, without getting down to the nuts and bolts, is a resounding "YES!" The people of Sacramento have been very loud and consistent in their objection to the use of public funding for an arena.

Okay, so it seems to me that, as a direct consequence of them not spending $200M to keep their team, they had to go five years without a team of their own, and now have to pay $500M+ to get another team. It's not fair to Sacramento, no, but it seems to me, from an out-of-towner's perspective, that that's penance enough from Seattle's side.
And even then I don't see how you blame the public and the city, when it's private investors that are putting up the bulk of the money now. Are they supposed to turn the offer down???

You're being logical about something that is totally emotional for a lot of us. If your girlfriend dumps you for a new guy, are you going to tell me you don't harbor resentment towards him?

People outside of Sacramento are going to view the whole situation differently than the locals. It doesn't mean either view is right or wrong. They're just different. It would be nice if people would just respect that all of us are going through a very trying time and we're going to react differently.

Even though im just a casual fan of this team and the sport at large, I think some of you more passionate people deserved better. The maloofs really did this townn dirty with their antics the last few years for which i hope they pay dearly in one way or another. Will sacramento ever get another pro sports franchise again? It's such a shame.

And why I follow 107.9?.. I like to make fun of their music.

It was at the top of my page but I just saw it said 12 hours ago at the bottom. I was totally thinking that was just posted.. My bad y'all false alarm.

You should know better. Nothing is done until approved by the BoG.

Unfortunately for us Kings fans, the BoG would be indifferent to this move. I am just hoping that they would rather keep the team in Sacramento and find an alternative way to get Seattle the team that they deserve.

Sacramento deserves better. Its hard to remain positive here.

It's my fragile state. I am scanning through everything when I should be paying more attention. It's like I'm scrambling here to do something but I have no idea what it is, all the while there are butterflies in my stomach and my hands are shaking. It's just me being me when I am upset. Then I see that and think... done deal..

I feel the exact same way.

Čarolija - You can't say the BoG would be indifferent. There are a lot of variables in play, and public perception is an important one. The NBA doesn't like this kind of publicity. If there's a way to keep the Kings in Sacramento with new owners, I'm pretty sure the BoG would prefer that above everything else. It would be the ultimate Cinderella story...fans of a team in a small market manage to overcome the cruelty of malevolent owners and find a rich savior. I can almost hear the John Williams soundtrack now...

True but you also need to understand that Seattle episode left a black eye for the NBA and if they would ever "lower their standards" for allowing a team to move from one market to the other it would be to Seattle.

If this was a move to Kansas City or San Jose or any other city I would be sitting back nice and relaxed, grabbing a box of pop corn and enjoying the drama but because it is Seattle I am ****ting bricks!

My boss made an interesting comment to me today on the way out the door, he said he heard that KJ was talking Burkle and Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom about a group to keep the team hear...and he said that was like a few weeks ago...so the jig has been up for awhile it sounds like...wonder what Newsom's involvement is...hmmmm.

Ok, nobody is in the mood for the local idiot to start being a jerk. Especially not now. Fair warning - knock it off or you will be banned.

Robbing peter to pay paul. They would be walking away from a city with a public supported arena deal. They would be letting them go to larger market. This is not the image they want when they have cities coming up that need new arenas, ie Bucks.

People can delete my comments all they want, i dont really care. Nobody can say the comments i made were in any way untrue. Just because you dont agree that its a great move for the franchise doesnt mean that it isnt. Quick question, If by some miracle the kings changed thier mind and sold the team to burkle, who is a billionaire. Who is he going to pay??? Nobody worth anything is ever gonna come to sacramento. Facts are facts, now hurry and delete this comment so its not real

The decision will NOT come down to the BoG. They have no grounds to veto it. The Maloofs will go with the highest bidder. If Sacramento fails to produce a buyer that offers more than Seattle it's a done deal.

Um...actually it will...the BOG's has to vote on any relocation/sale of any of its franchises.

Probably but not definite. This is uncharted waters for the league and there are some real long term risks for them when it comes to local support if they allow the Maloofs to walk with other comparable bids on the table to stay.

I wish you were right but most of the country don't care if the Kings move. The Maloofs dragged this out so long that most of the public see the move as inevitable, there would be little to no backlash.
