Thomas Robinson suspended 2 games for Jerebko elbow

Robinson elbow

I thought the deliberate throwing of an elbow by Robinson was after the play and aimed to hurt Jerekbo. It was a cheap shot, and I would not play Robinson for a couple of games if I were the coach. I would have him call the opposing player and apologize for his actions. There was plenty of wrestling going on, but players need to control themselves. The Kings have enough trouble with Cousins, they don't need further distractions. There is fine line between not being intimidated, and acting like thugs. I say Robinson crossed it. What do you say?

This is an important topic because it helps define the way the Kings view themselves. Humans the size of NBA big men can do some serious damage. Refs need to control the level of intensity of play.

It wasn't clever, wasn't necessary. He'll take a fine and probably a ban

but lets not overreact it's the first time he's done anything remotely agressive.

If you watch the whole play Jonas was grabbing his shirt, his arms and his shoulder and Robinson clearly lashed out in the wrong way.

Imagine if Kobe was sat for 2 games everytime he threw an elbow... he'd be playing 14 game seasons.

Whatever. He overreacted because he was being grabbed after the play. Happened to get him in the throat. It was a spur of the moment thing and it happens. he's gonna pay for it and hes gonna learn. End of story. Nothing to see here

TRob took to Twitter last night and apologized. Players make mistakes. The good ones own up to them and take whatever punishment is doled out without complaint. I know Robinson will do likewise.

Looked pretty bad when seeing it on live on TV. Watching the replays on youtube, the side angle one which gives the best view it really doesn't seem that vicious. Jerebko definitely helped sell it and even gives the floor a nice smack. TRob will learn to keep his elbow down when hitting someone off him and this will just be the standard tech players get when they are tangled up and don't appreciate it. TRob will get the fine that comes along with it, shouldn't be a suspension. Wouldn't mind if Jerebko was warned for flopping too, as to me it looks like he tried to sell it which is against the new rules.

I only had a few minutes to fast forward through the game and stopped when I saw this. I rewound a bit to see if I missed any earlier tussles. It looked to me like Robinson actually elbowed him three different times over the course of the previous two plays. I didn't see much from Jerebko but I might not have rewound enough. If I saw it accurately and the league notices Robinson might get a bigger suspension. Artest got 7 games because of his history, which shouldn't be an issue here, but three elbows in the span of a minute might be.

During the play the play he got ejected he was being pulled back by Jerebko. Pretty standard to use an elbow to get the guy off you... Not so standard to throw it so high. That was his only mistake in my opinion. Artests elbow was entirely different. Anyone who wants to compare them should watch both again.

It shows weakness on TRob's part to do what he did. Shows that he's not able to do what he wants on an NBA basketball court and that he doesn't have very good composure. I'm going to predict a 3 game suspension for his actions.

Did anyone see them show it on PTI? They showed a different angle that I haven't seen before, and it really did look like Jerebko flopped a bit. I thought he did at first glance and this really showed it to me. With that said, no matter if he flopped or not, it was wrong by T-Rob. You just don't go near someone's head. No excuse for it but I can see why Robinson said he flopped.

Sorry, I didn't think the elbow was as bad as everyone is making it out to be. He couldn't even see Jerebko to know exactly where he was going to hit him. Frustrated by the initial contact while going for the rebound, Jerebko started pulling T-Robb at his waist so Robinson attempted to clear him out. While that was certainly the wrong way to go about it, I didn't think his intent was to injure. While I don't have a problem with a 1 game suspension in order to send a message, I think 2 games is too harsh considering it is a first time offense and Jerebko wasn't seriously injured like James Harden was by Ron Artest.

No question he sold it but you're right. Robinson needs to not let dirty players get under his skin. There may be some credence to the talk from Cousins in camp about him trying to keep Thomas Robinson in check emotionally.

Yea, the side view shows that it wasn't really bad/vicious. Like you say though anything towards they head and they will severely penalize you. Probably just a tech if Jerebko doesn't go down like that. Dude didn't even try to stay standing, feet stay planted and he falls straight onto his back and slaps the ground to make it sound hard.

I dont mind this. Did the crime do the time. We need some toughness/badass to us. God knows the L's trying to get into Boogie game after game. TROB can take some of this off him in what i hope is our future front court.

The bash brothers indeed

TRob's elbow while too high was not nearly as bad as what Maxiell did to Cousins IMO. Maxiel was coming down and had tremendous energy on his hit beyond what his own strength could provide.

Maxiell got the Flagrant 1 and will be playing the next two games. TRob got a Flagrant 2 and a 2 game suspension.

Kobe and Artest comparisions are out of line. Artest has a history and Kobe is golden and has free rein. Exhibit A is Kobe smashing Bibby in the face with an elbow for a NO CALL back in the day.

TRob will learn and get more crafty in his chosen role as Team Tough Guy.

It could have been worse than 2 games. It sucks because I really like watching him play, but there's no longterm damage one way or the other.

Not comparable to the Kobe elbow though. That was done while moving, in the flow of the game, whether intentional or not. TRob's was on a dead ball, clearly a retaliation sort of elbow that was very much intended.
