A couple I don't mind. But to this extent, on a team that is arguably the worst in the West, and you're defense is a part of it? Does this strike anyone as a team first player? Someone who might take a step back for the good of the team?Rubs me the wrong way,and I probably wouldn't have even brought it up except for the fact a certain "somebody" have been criticized ever since his rookie year as only chasing stats, and considered not to be team first.

Also never seen another NBA player retweet self praise to this extent, and definitely not on such a crappy team. Not the first time with MT either. I've seen him retweet praise after losses.

I am not a big twerp/twatter/whatever and retweets are a big reason why. But I've seen others retweet their mentions by the dozens on slow days. Not much to read into.

Well, the same ones defending it, and it has nothing to with liking MT or not, are some of the same ones who've bashed Reke for chasing stats, without any evidence of it. Then here comes MT retweeting all this plus more which I left out, and it's fine. Like I said, wouldn't have posted it except for the double standard around here.

Given that I was telling people before the season he might be there, arguing with people on this very board whether he was a star SG or not, I certainly can't question the honor itself -- there are few really good SGs anymore, and Thornton is right there with anybody in that second tier.

The retweeting...well I consider much of tweeting culture to jsut be sa place for morons to remove any doubt, so I have no idea on etiquette. He's certainly a guy with an ego who craves the limelight, but is that always a bad thing?

I've thought, watching the games, that Thornton sometimes has a selfish attitude out there. There are games when he's just being aggressive and it benefits the team but there are a lot of games where I wonder if his aggressiveness is becoming tunnel vision and at that point it's hurting the team. Which is why I think he'd be better coming off the bench. If he would accept handling the ball a little less and spotting up a little more perhaps then he could still find a role in the starting lineup. But I would never critisize a player for something they say over Twitter. I give them all a pass on that because I think Twitter basically encourages stupidity anyway.

Where did I complain about people answering?

I can disagree with others opinions on it, and point out hypocrisy I may see, but not sure that's the same as complaining about others actually answering it. If that were the case, anytime someone asks a question, they have to keep there mouth shut from that point on in the conversation.

As far as tweeting culture among athletes, someone please point out other athletes retweeting praise like this repeatedly, so I know it's normal. I also do wonder if this is a glimpse into the culture of our locker room. Don't see this on good teams.

First, people are sending him the tweets and he is just retweeting. It's not like he's making the statements himself. Second, I have no clue what website/organization has him as a top 5 SG and what their criteria was to determine it. It's like saying LBJ is stat hogging to get the MVP.

I just think your more upset that MT made a top 5 list and someone else didn't.

Naw, retweeting is very common, and its sort of a reward to your fans to retweet them. I judge players by how they play and not by twitter. Thornton plays hard, and he's never struck me as a, I'm going to get my stats guy. He does have tunnel vision at times when driving, but to be fair, he's also gotten some nice assists around the basket. I think both his passing and his defense have improved since he's been here.

Don't take this personally, because its not intended directly at you, but I'm curious why fans in general are always looking at things through a negative window? Just about anything anyone does, can be interupted many different ways. Why choose the negative one?

Although I wouldn't cry if we traded MT plus Greene for Davis, I wouldn't cry, :) I would rather have a SG, who actually shoots, as I realize there are many ways to play the position, with a little over arrogance than the opposite.

That had to be the most complicated sentence I've written since high school. :)

He's a shooter and he's a good shooter. When you pass the ball to him, don't expect to get it back. That's his role on the team.

As to what rainmaker said, read it carefully. I know the point he tried to make and I also realize it was a difficult point to make, unfortunately. We're all friends here, aren't we? Let's give each other a break.

The funny thing is i believe the screenshot that declared him "one of the best SG's in the NBA" was simply from that fantasy ball show on NBATV where they tell you who to pick from week to week.

so i think he may have jumped the gun on that one.

All players retweet this kind of junk anyway, Does anyone follow Hassan? He retweets people telling him he's a "Beast" I mean come on lol.

It's just an easy way to acknowledge fans without writing a message back. Pretty cool to connect with one of your favorite athletes on a more personal level, which a retweet does.

To me, it is silly to criticize him for connecting with the fans like this. Like you say, the team is bad. When you are not getting much joy from the games and losing, connecting with one of the players is another way to get fun out of your team. I have never heard of a fan complaining when they get a retweet or response. It is actually pretty exciting for most. I hope he keeps interacting with as many fans as he can on twitter.

On your behalf, I will send him a tweet criticizing him and hopeful he retweets it so his twitter feels more balanced for you ;)

This much I do agree with. And even as a grown up non-fan boy of sorts, I have to acknowledge its a kick when a musician followed by 10s of thousands engages with me on Twitter or I get a response from the owner of my soccer club. I just don't see the big deal, and I am most certainly not a Reke basher or MT jocker.
