It's ridiculous how well Reke sets everyone else up and yet he's not seen as a PG. Replace Rondo with him on the Celtics and he no one would dare say anything.
There's been little question of Evans' ability to pass and make plays. What has always been in question has been his decision making, which even the biggest Evans supporters will admit comes and goes.

He does set people up well, problem is he doesn't do it enough.... theres times where he opts to drive into 4 defensive players for a layup instead of passing to a wide open man somewhere else.

BUT you also have to acknowledge the frustration Evans must feel when he does everything he's supposed to do and the player he passes to totally misses the shot - time after time after time.

Problem is when Reke or MT is playing well, they usually play 18-20 mins straight and then spend the end of each half on the bench. Hopefully no tonight.

You jinxed him. Your post had barely shown up and Tyreke went to the bench. Pox on you!!!

I DO like Cousins coming back in when Evans comes out.

Ideally you want one of your two best players on the court just about all the time. Tonight, Reke is playing like our best player, so having Cousins out there without him should help.

No doubt. However he is probably more frustrated about the criticism he gets for being selfish and trying to do it himself at times... if he even acknowledges that criticism that is.

That's the second biggest grievance that I have with Smart, just after his propensity to put three (or more!) guards on the court at the same time, is his frustrating rotations.

I'm only commenting on this because I've seen more than a few people say it.

It's not true. They are different players.
If you surround Reke with players who can actually shoot the ball, he will on Rondo's level. It's not like teams double Rondo; they got to stick with Allen, Pierce, and KG. That leaves Rondo to look for the pass a lot easier, drive to the hoop a lot easier, and nowadays he's even knocking down jump shots. Makes life a lot easier when you're surrounded by guys who can shoot the ball.

The great Bob Knight was interviewed prior to the championship game a week or two ago and said one of the biggest problems he sees in the game today is the lack of weakside, off the ball screens. He was saying there are dozens of ways to use screens to free up cutters on the weakside.

Why do I bring this up? Watch Cuz in the post. We have a player or two fake like they'll cut, or one will cut through at half speed, but for all intent there's little movement on the weakside and the cuts have little purpose, making it an iso without any options to pass too. Since we generally have three guys standing on the weakside while Cuz operates in the post, I'd love to see screens to free up cutters, and there are a number of ways to go about it. Baseline, staggered, single or double at the elbow for a cutter to curl off and either stop and pop or attack, which then opens up off the ball fades to the wing or corner where MT/IT/Jimmer could help. But having one guy do a half a** cut won't change anything.

Random thought #1: It looks like the ushers, security and food service personnel outnumber the fans in New Orleans.

Random thought #2: Apparently Thornton is going to be the Grant/Jerry "player of the night" for the Kings tonight. Sorry, but all the gushing and hyperbole has gone beyond the point of nauseation. Of course, it's not their fault. Jim Gray stole Isaiah.

Random thought #3: I stubbed my toe last night really badly and might lose the nail. For some reason, I blame the Maloofs.
Be more specific. It's Gavin.

Oh no, did you miss the early game? This is DeMarcus pouting/pissed at the coach is what this is. He was publicly chastized, and so he is chekced out. No idea if we'll get him back or not.
I saw it. He could be less 'mentally fragile'. It was a dumb pass, not sure if its worthy of being taken out, but when you commit your second foul like that .. hard to keep him in even if Smart wanted too.

It's hard to predict how guys will respond to that sort of stuff. Playing pissed off is not always a bad thing.

Evans passes well in spurts. Rondo has been passing at an elite level for years now. He's the best passer in the league in my opinion. Saying its just because he plays with good players isn't giving him nearly enough credit. The Celtics were BAD the first few months of the season, and Rondo was still doing his thing.
