Eight million is more than I expected, but YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!

EDIT: New four year, $31 million deal. Now that is fantastic.

Cool. Other teams must've been interested for it to be 8 million per. Congrats to MT and the Kings. They have all kinds of offensive weapons.

Yep. Just posted it in the free agency thread as well. I'm ok with this. If he plays like he did last year and continues to progress he's worth it.

And the Kings have what, approx 12 million left in cap space (assuming they sign Hayes @ 5 million/per)? If they lose out on Dalembert, I wonder how Petrie will proceed? Shouldn't the Kings just throw that at Gasol and see what happens?

I think that's too much. $8M based on half a season? Who were we competing with? I really like Marcus a lot but this feels too high.
Based on 2 halves of two seasons where he showed what he can do.

Big Baby just got over 6M which is nuts. Had to be in the 6-8M per year range.

He had multiple teams after him including NO trying to get him back, that should tell you something about him. And like Sidney said, he performed this way covering for Paul, and with the Kings. At the very least it's consistency. Now we have a happy player that's going to work hard for us. That's priceless.

Just saw it posted that the the signing of Thornton by the Kings has been blocked by the NBA office. The reasoning was "for basketball reasons" the trade that brought Marcus Thornton to the Kings has been reversed, and the Thornton will now be resigned for the Hornets. :)

I haven't read everybody's notes. I think Thornton is essential to the team as he was a difference maker at the end of the season last year. He has all the offensive skills and also the mentality to have the rock with the clock winding down. This latter mental capability has no definable value but it gives our team three and maybe four (Jimmer) who will take the last shot. Three or four who relish taking the last shot.

Over the summer I have kept quiet as to what I thought his value was because I have always been far higher, in my own mind of course, than anyone else has ever mentioned. I thought this range (5/40) was what he was worth but didn't want the endless types of arguments that can be started when one is an outlier like I would have been. This guy can be a star or a mini-star. Maybe never an all star but a guy who has to be guarded. I also have a little faith that his defense will improve as he is a tough guy and a gym rat.

At the end of last year, he was the guy I wanted to have the ball at the end of the game. Not Reke and not Cuz and THAT is a big compliment from me.

What?? He's a restricted free agent! Oh, say it isn't so.
