Everyone can vote for these playoff match-ups (even if you didn't participate in the draft). Don't be shy!

Feel free to back-up your rationale here.

Again, my easy pick is in a dogfight while the one I struggled over is a landslide in the popular vote!

I think Star Wars by itself managed to win the matchup. Jespher countered with Kick-A$$, Stranger Than Fiction, and unfortunately a bunch of movies I don't give a hoot about. But NoBonus' list followed up with some solid stuff (e.g. Holy Grail, The Shining, Austin Powers) and some goofy rewatchable stuff (e.g. Godzilla. Logan's Run).

I agonized over eventually voting for Dime Dropper. Kingsnation had Elf, an all-time fave (and oddly just about the only Will Ferrell I can stomach - Stranger Than Fiction being the other), as well as Se7en, ROTK, and Goonies. But I don't know how often I can rewatch Se7en, and ROTK is going to be a bit hollow without the other two films to precede it. Dime Dropper's list has a lot of movies I don't like, but I think Pulp Fiction, the Usual Suspects, and Cinema Paradiso, along with three movies I haven't seen but want to catch (Donnie Darko, City of God, The Pianist) got it the edge.

NoBonus and kingsnation both have several movies that were on my list. Thus, I vote for them to move on.

Rock paper scissors FTW? ;)

Since I can make arguments for all 4 of these lists, I'm just gonna kick back here with a bowl of popcorn and see how it turns out. :p

Come on people, how can you vote against a list that includes classics like Pulp Fiction, Usual Suspects, Godfather, Saving Private Ryan, LA Confidential, Fight Club etc.?

If it were only for those films, I probably wouldn't have voted for you. But the bottom half of your list is amazing.

My list has John Travolta as a woman, George Clooney as a Fox, Ellen Degeneres as a fish, Elijah Wood as a hobbit and Will Ferrell as an Elf. That's gotta mean something, right? ;) :D

I wound up choosing Dime because there were more movies I liked on his list but I find his list a little too paint by numbers for my taste. Bad Santa (which I really like) is the only movie that doesn't seem culled from a list of "The Best Movies Ever by popular vote". And LA Confidential could have been my #1 overall pick if I was in a different mood (as I mentioned lately I've been having trouble getting through longer movies so I made most of my picks with that in mind - I think I had only one over 2 hours and that one was really 2 separate stories). kingsnation's list seemed to show a little more personality which normally I like but there wasn't one movie I would have drafted even if I weren't limiting myself to a drive-in/B-movie kind of theme this go around. And picking the musical Hairspray while saying you had no use for the original was probably the nail in the coffin.

I voted for Jespher primarily because Kick-*** was actually on my list for this draft. I had even re-watched in anticipation of taking it.

Have to appeal to the masses ;)
I'd probably prefer the second half of my list too, but I'm sure most people would have seen the first 10 moreso than the last 10.

This was really the point of the draft for me... win or lose - the goal was to show my taste in movies/my personality through my selections. So, it makes me happy to know that I was successful at least in that lol :D As for Hairspray, I did figure I'd lose some popularity because I picked the newer version... but again, I just liked that one better.

And trust me, I salute you for doing so.

We went and saw Hairspray live on stage in Reno a couple weeks ago... if you like the movie, you need to go see the play... tickets were like $25 for front row seats and it is a travelling big city production. So much fun!

So, what do we do about the tie with me and Jespher?
IIRC, I think you each pick 5 movies for a mini-showdown and we get to vote based on the 5 you pick. But I am not about to go back and search to see if my recollection is correct.

Looks like a 4 way tie!

I like the top 5 films for eternal island viewing idea and have sent out PMs to each participant. I'll put Bricklayer in charge of the tie breaker poll with NoBonus and myself, and I'll post the other poll thread by this evening.

Dime Dropper beat kingsnation 14-12.

Quite right...Wow, bad eyes or bad math there. Bricklayer will post the tie-breaker poll by this evening (he already has our lists). Thanks uolj for the heads up (again :)).

Congrats to Dime Dropper. You're moving on to the next round. The other match-up will be determined presently...
