And 48 hrs is not dragging it out that long. It's a reasonable amount of time to digest what they've talked about with the NBA, even if they'd had already pretty much made up their mind. No doubt there were some interesting words for them.

In my opinion that would almost certainly result in getting shot down big time, and a heavy, unavoidable pressure for them to sell. I'm SURE, given the right circumstances, and that kind of move would probably create them, that Stern/Burkle has a way of "making an offer you can't refuse".

Yeah I think you're right. I'd say if they do file it's about 90/10 that it gets shot down if not more. It's pretty clear that Stern, the 6 or 7 teams on the committee, the Lakers, Clippers, Warriors, Bulls, Knicks, and Nets are against it. That's at least a dozen no votes right there. I can't imagine the majority of the other 18 teams bucking Stern and the committee and voting yes. I know one thing though, if they do file I'll still be on pins and needles until the final vote comes in.
Why would you want to make it look like you're forced to sell before you sell? That would simply put your buyer in a better bargaining position and depress the price of your asset. If anything, you'd want to make it look like your own choice. Which is why they've been so stubborn, I think, about maintaining that it's their choice and they haven't made up their mind yet.
Because the whole reason they're not selling has to do with pride, not finances.

If it was about money, It'd be hard to convince me that their money wouldn't better serve them, as another poster said, "in a more boring, safe investment".
But I think we've learned over time that there are other things governing their actions. Am I wrong?

Being the other poster, I agree totatally with your analysis. They need a way out to save face and as they have always said they have gone to the NBA for advice, perhaps theis advice can give them a way out. It will not be their decison totally but on the advice of David Stern. Perhaps this has been the plan all along and that is to do what Stern says. There are worse mentors. If Stern says move, they move, if he says stay, they stay, if he says sell, they gulp audibally and sell. We'll see soon enough and then get to change subjects.
Oh, and I am very worried about their decision. No request to move has been turned down and that's the history. We are chosing to listen to only those who agree with us. How about the majority who have not spoken out?

I think it's possible Stern has already canvassed BOG and knows exactly what would happen or very likely to happen IF Maloofs file a request to relocate. If so, he certainly will give that info in advance to Kings owners and let them then decide how to proceed. Win a majority of the vote or lose face by being turned down.
