I'm just as interested to hear whatever public statement they come up with. I'm not that worried about the decision, because all signs and pressure point to them staying, but what they decide to say to us fans is be very interesting.

These guys are too much. What's left to decide? They're just dragging it out at this point so the can feed their fantasy that they're still the ones in control.

And let them.

Rookie- we've got to find a way where they can get a bit of what they need, however illegitimate you deem it to be. It will only help the King's sich.

They've got to at least save some face here. I have no problem with that.

And 48 hrs is not dragging it out that long. It's a reasonable amount of time to digest what they've talked about with the NBA, even if they'd had already pretty much made up their mind. No doubt there were some interesting words for them.

With as stubborn as these guys have acted lately, I honestly about 50/50 expect them to file on Thursday or Friday. If they have no intention of staying in Sacramento or if staying means they'll have to sell, they might just go all in and hope they get 15 owners to vote yes.

In my opinion that would almost certainly result in getting shot down big time, and a heavy, unavoidable pressure for them to sell. I'm SURE, given the right circumstances, and that kind of move would probably create them, that Stern/Burkle has a way of "making an offer you can't refuse".

If 'the kids' file for relocation at this juncture I would be very surprised and disappointed. Give it one year. Give it a chance for crying out loud. Que' barbaro!!

Yeah I think you're right. I'd say if they do file it's about 90/10 that it gets shot down if not more. It's pretty clear that Stern, the 6 or 7 teams on the committee, the Lakers, Clippers, Warriors, Bulls, Knicks, and Nets are against it. That's at least a dozen no votes right there. I can't imagine the majority of the other 18 teams bucking Stern and the committee and voting yes. I know one thing though, if they do file I'll still be on pins and needles until the final vote comes in.

they know they don't have the votes so why drag on to May 2nd when they can just end this fiasco now?
I would prefer they didn't ask for a vote, and just agreed to follow the instructions of the committee. Put it to a vote, and you never know for sure what will happen.

Was thinking that too.. "Either let us move or we sell". Kinda stupid but seems like something the Maloofs would do.

I could almost see it going down like this: the Maloofs file, knowing they won't get the votes, in order to make it look like they are forced to sell. Then they sell. Something tells me they feel stuck in this situation. This could be their out.

The writing on the wall has been clear. They were told to their face today.

I'd bet we get a press release between 2 and 4 pm on Friday. That's how you try to beat the news cycle.

But these guys aren't very good with the media, so who knows.

my guess is that a deal is on the works... im leaning towards them selling. they have worn out their welcome in Sacramento, they didn't even bother to look at the untapped market.

I could see this scenario playing out...get set for a filing, perhaps. As they always said, 'We're from Vegas and we're gamblers'...I.e.: Ron Artest trade
Yup, I am fully expecting the NBA to pressure them to stay...and for them to file anyways. Don't think they have any interest in staying in Sac. I think they have too much childish resentment towards this city. Funny, Sac doesn't have any interest in them either. Sell, ...please!

They might as well contact ESPN and ask them if they can give them a 1 hour spot and title it The Decision part 2
The big swerve on part 2 would be when they get set to make the announcement and Stern pops out and says, "Not so fast..."

Why would you want to make it look like you're forced to sell before you sell? That would simply put your buyer in a better bargaining position and depress the price of your asset. If anything, you'd want to make it look like your own choice. Which is why they've been so stubborn, I think, about maintaining that it's their choice and they haven't made up their mind yet.

Because the whole reason they're not selling has to do with pride, not finances.

Having an excuse that makes it look like they were forced to sell helps them save face.

If it was about money, It'd be hard to convince me that their money wouldn't better serve them, as another poster said, "in a more boring, safe investment".

But I think we've learned over time that there are other things governing their actions. Am I wrong?

Being the other poster, I agree totatally with your analysis. They need a way out to save face and as they have always said they have gone to the NBA for advice, perhaps theis advice can give them a way out. It will not be their decison totally but on the advice of David Stern. Perhaps this has been the plan all along and that is to do what Stern says. There are worse mentors. If Stern says move, they move, if he says stay, they stay, if he says sell, they gulp audibally and sell. We'll see soon enough and then get to change subjects.

Oh, and I am very worried about their decision. No request to move has been turned down and that's the history. We are chosing to listen to only those who agree with us. How about the majority who have not spoken out?

I think it's possible Stern has already canvassed BOG and knows exactly what would happen or very likely to happen IF Maloofs file a request to relocate. If so, he certainly will give that info in advance to Kings owners and let them then decide how to proceed. Win a majority of the vote or lose face by being turned down.

then again no city and mayor stepped up like this... maybe sacramento is the first to change such history

they will bleed money if they move.

The clippers were, but Sterling moved them anyways.
